Well .. I’m on Day 4 and made it to outside Deadwood, SD!
Unfortunately I have fought a lot of rain thus far but making planned progress.
I really liked Custer State Park in SD. Lots of Bison and dogs .. as in Prarie! In person .. Mount Rushmore is so very majestic ! Currently dispersed camping in Black Hills National Forest, already had rain for the night … ugh!

Half Of Canada is on fire, we’re getting a nice early start to our smoky summer air :-(

I am presently camped on Lk Superior heading further North to start a 120 mile/200km canoe trip and it is hazy.

2 summers ago the fires had me re-routing plans in the Northwest.

OP, I suggest watching closely to the fire situations as you come North.

There is a BC fire map website that will help keep you in the loop!

It’s crazy how many fires there’s been over the last couple of years! The last time we were in western Canada in ‘20 I don’t remember any fire smoke. But maybe we were just lucky.

Are these fires mostly man made or by lightning strikes etc?

A great deal of the ones last summer were in fact arson, the ones burning around Fort Nelson
( northern BC) were fires from last summer that re-ignited after burning through the winter in the muskeg underground. Not looking like a very promising summer.
