GWS Gladiator, and Wrangler sales. Looks like it may be a rough road ahead.

But is it a truck?

Wrangler engineers went to Ford to build the new Bronco.
Full size, yes. Body on frame and IFS instead of SFA. Sport? Escape based CUV with decent clutch pack AWD systems but definitely not a truck.

The biggest issue with Stellantis is their management does not understand understand the USDM. They clearly are arrogant in their dealings and complacent, thinking the salad days would last forever and Ram and Jeep would keep the lights on by subsidizing everything else.

Furthermore:

--Alfa is now down to one trim across 3 models. And none of them is a Quadrofoglio. Total sales for the first half of this year was under 5000 units across the line. Jeep sold 13K Gladiators in Q1-2024 and that's down from last year.

--Chrysler is bringing back the Voyager for gen pop sales as a stripped down Pacifica.. but that leaves just two minivans and a couple maybes down the road.

--Durango was supposed to go away, but it's gonna hang on just a ***wee** bit longer and in various "special" editions because... the Charger/Challenger replacements are still a ways out. Hornet has been a sales disappointment.

--Fiat? 2 vehicles and neither is a 2-door 500 gasser. (which candidly is a blast to drive in Abarth trim, just built like crap compared to the Mini)

These 4 brands have a total of 9 vehicles for sale. It sure is a good thing the CDJR dealers have Jeep and Ram to sell, too.

Lastly-- Jeep really missed the boat by not keeping the Cherokee up to date against the competition and having a replacement ready last year when they killed it. Same with Renegade. Compact/Mid Size SUVs are a very competitive and hot segment... and the company iconically identified with 4x4 utility vehicles is not appearing in this film.

If you took Jeep and Ram out of the equation, FCA would have already closed up shop in the USDM.

Found this from old Scotty. He is hard to listen to, but he seems to know what is going on.
Stellantis Just Announced the End of Jeeps and Their Firing All Workers (youtube.com)

Stellantis biggest problem is they want everything electrified. They don't seem to care about sales too much either. They dropped Charger/Challenger, and the Hemi that support their sales. Dropping or have dropped the Hemi in the 1500 Ram. They seem to have no clue about the American automotive market, and do not seem to care. Replacing cars Americans want for cars they don't does not make you very smart. Look at us. We build clean cars. Too bad we can't sell them. And the Hornet. WTF is that crap? Another SUV? Woopie Dink. Get in line Hornet. And the stupid commercials for it. A fully loaded Hornet can hit 50k. What a joke they are. I am greatfull that Jeep finally built a truck, but that is where it ends for me. I will try to keep my Gladiator going for 20 years as I love it. If it craps out beyond repair, I will go old school for a 80-90s boxy Chevy, Dodge, or Ford Truck. I am done buying new anything.

I'm telling you, their sleazy dealerships are more to blame than their prices. Or at least as much.

It was the worst dealership experience of any brand I've purchased, from sales through service. They reeked of desperation 2 years ago, I can't imagine how it is now.

I dont think that's exclusive to CDJR. There's only one dealer in my area that's worth half a damn and they're an indy Ford store- one of the few left.

The big multi-state chains destroyed any semblance of customer service left in the pursuit of sales volume and backhanded tricks to boost margins.

Running the risk of this getting out of hand and locked but that's not exactly correct. The push to BEVs is entirely a government directed phenomenon. The Feds have made it financially untenable for the manufacturers to sell ICE vehicles by assessing increasing CAFE fines for exceeding the MPG number permitted amongst other schemes like huge rebates/tax credits for buying a BEV.

You also have to take into account that the 10th biggest car market in the world, California enacted many unrealistic ICE efficiency goals and lofty BEV sales goals, coupled to restrictions on existing gas and diesel vehicle operation and sales. And-- Multiple states have adopted CA's standards forcing the manufacturers to cater to the political whims of Sacramento, DC and nobody else.

States that adopted CARB standards account for 40.2% of passenger/light duty sales and 25.5% of HD vehicle sales. (source: CARB)

No automaker will ignore that sort of scale. Even Stellantis with its almost genetic predisposition to poor management could not ignore that market share.

Now that It's hurricane season, there'll be many new buyers for vehicles that have been lost in the flood.
