Full size, yes. Body on frame and IFS instead of SFA. Sport? Escape based CUV with decent clutch pack AWD systems but definitely not a truck. But is it a truck?
Wrangler engineers went to Ford to build the new Bronco.
The biggest issue with Stellantis is their management does not understand understand the USDM. They clearly are arrogant in their dealings and complacent, thinking the salad days would last forever and Ram and Jeep would keep the lights on by subsidizing everything else.
Furthermore:
--Alfa is now down to one trim across 3 models. And none of them is a Quadrofoglio. Total sales for the first half of this year was under 5000 units across the line. Jeep sold 13K Gladiators in Q1-2024 and that's down from last year.
--Chrysler is bringing back the Voyager for gen pop sales as a stripped down Pacifica.. but that leaves just two minivans and a couple maybes down the road.
--Durango was supposed to go away, but it's gonna hang on just a ***wee** bit longer and in various "special" editions because... the Charger/Challenger replacements are still a ways out. Hornet has been a sales disappointment.
--Fiat? 2 vehicles and neither is a 2-door 500 gasser. (which candidly is a blast to drive in Abarth trim, just built like crap compared to the Mini)
These 4 brands have a total of 9 vehicles for sale. It sure is a good thing the CDJR dealers have Jeep and Ram to sell, too.
Lastly-- Jeep really missed the boat by not keeping the Cherokee up to date against the competition and having a replacement ready last year when they killed it. Same with Renegade. Compact/Mid Size SUVs are a very competitive and hot segment... and the company iconically identified with 4x4 utility vehicles is not appearing in this film.
If you took Jeep and Ram out of the equation, FCA would have already closed up shop in the USDM.
