Greetings, In the process of setting up my Gladiator for maximum fun!
Curious to hear the adventure you had while installing QD’s. Another Jeep Modification Adventure in the bag!
When removing the stock left top link, with both bottom nuts, bolts & links removed on both sides. Did not create enough clearance to insert the 8mm Allen Key in the upper link. No matter how it was pushed up or down. Could not get the clearance to insert the Allen Key. The only process not tried was to use a lift to rase all 4 off the ground & let the suspension settle.
With that said, front tires on level ground, front skid plate removed; the left shock reservoir was moved. Giving access to the top left bolts on the sway bar mount. After the nuts were loosened the link dropped to the point where the 8mm Allen was inserted, the 13/16 or 21mm RW removed the nut on left link. The left Apex QD was installed first top & bottom. Apex upper link uses a ¾” or 19mm wrench. A Crows foot was used to loosen the forward nut on the SB mount. An offset box wrench will work as well. Getting a socket & extension on the forward nut is a tight fit so the crow’s foot got it done.
Installing the Apex links was a snap, follow the instructions for the placement of the upper concave washer that allows the stud to move freely. locking & unlocking is simple. Keep a pry bar handy if they don’t lock, on level ground, a gentle pry down, locks that side, the other side follows.
Sidebar: Some of the Stuff that was done...
Apex Performance autoLYNX Sway Bar Disconnect
Auto Start Stop Eliminator
BedRug Impact Mat
RealTruck, BAK Revolver X4s Hard Roll Up Tonneau Cover
Redline Tuning 21-20003-02 Hood QuickLIFT
Utah Design Foundry, JL/JT Steel Bumper Closeout’s, the stock steel is now a “Stubby”
Vevro Cargo Bar
Amazon Crap - Door sill guards, envelope truck bed cargo net (its handy to put stuff in and not have to chase it in the bed) and American flag tire valve caps. Cheep crap that needs to be made in the USA.
