Has anyone tried to tint the soft top rear window? I have read its possible with some kind of static kling type tint. I had my other windows tinted today and they said the rear window could not be done because it was too soft of a vinyl. Does anyone know if a darker tinted rear window is available to buy? My current window has the factory tint. Was hoping to find something to match more closely to the 5% tint I got on the rear door windows.

Thanks

I've used Insta Cling type tint for soft top windows in the past and it worked pretty good.

I don't know how it would go with just replacing the window portion, but you might wanna check for someone selling a soft top for parts and get it cheap. Or check scrap yards and see if they would be willing to sell only the rear portion.

Assuming your factory windows are the 'standard' tint, not the optional package, one very simple approach could be to acquire a 'factory' deep tinted window panel.

My Gladiator came with the optional 'Solar Window' package, which is Mopar's factory Deep Tint Sunscreen Windows specification. The tailgate (rear) window is part number 6KH86SX9 (my 2022 part number 6KH86SX9AG, but that has been superseded). The tint is rather deep, anything darker would run afoul of some state regulations. I understand that the visible light transmission (VLT) is about 18% to 22% VLT. (The side windows are AS3 spec, not legal for front windows, and the rear is at least as dark if not darker.)

The part is sold by Mopar, and many third party stores. Just search on Google Shopping for "Mopar 6KH86SX9"

Yes, static cling film does not work well on soft top vinyl because the plastic flexes too much and distorts the film. Static cling also scratches easily. Instead of tint, you can buy a replacement dark-tinted factory or aftermarket window, or trade windows with a factory dark-tint owner.

My thought exactly.
