Just to add that I truly feel bad for you guys experiencing all that angst Jeep is putting you through waiting for these beautiful machines. Yes some will pay whatever they want and wait as long as it takes.

The flip side of that is that there a also a segment that don’t have that connection or undying loyalty, and that won’t dangle like a worm on a hook at their mercy. Me for instance. The more games they play and higher they price these things, the more risk they run alienating that segment of the population that would buy at a reasonable cost.

Just over a week owned. Bought better tires and a simple lift. Locking rear diff and Toyota crawl system. Add to that Toyota reliability which whether you buy into or not is a thing, and there is definitely competition in the market. Some guys think this thing exists in a vacuum - it doesn’t.

That is what they’re up against. They’d better bring their A game.

In my opinion, there are no vehicles that can compete with the Wrangler. It is in a class of its own even though they try and put other vehicles against it. You are absolutely correct about the JT being designated in a class. The JT will have direct competition with other midsize trucks. For this reason and this reason alone I would think FCA will price the JT with what the rest of the midsize market is at.
I really really hope this is the case. I also hope they that don't want to cannibalize Ram sales and price the well equipped Rubicon below that of a well equipped Ram Rebel 1500, but I'm not betting on it.

Looks good. Like that color. I agree with every single thing you just said

However, with that being said, there is something about the look of a Jeep that is just better then pretty much any suv, IMO.

The original Hummers H1 are the only other vehicle that looks better really. Jeep got smart and stole that side of the business too with the 4 door look, and now with the Gladiator.

I agree that Jeep is in a class of its own... to an extent. Most people I believe would agree. For the most part, it’s an specific image.

So, yes charge a couple thousand more to consumers. However, when you are already at the top or exceeding the high price point, then charging thousand on top of that, it’s ridiculous.

Then you have these people basically saying yes, yes, I’ll pay more, I love getting ripped off. That’s insane.

I agree with you too. That is the one thing truly unique to Jeep is the look. However, it takes more than just looks to make me buy a vehicle. Be it a truck, car or motorcycle, it better have more going for it than just it’s looks.

Kinda like looking for a mate. Her looks may get your attention initially, but a lasting relationship is going to require a whole lot more. And to add to that analogy, no matter how good she or he may look, there are others who may not think they look all that great and find someone else more attractive.

Looks are subjective.

I must say that you have made a great point. Your truck looks absolutely fantastic and I dig the color. I am a little upset that you bailed and opted out on waiting for the Gladiator but I do understand. Enjoy your new truck my friend.

Agreed again.

I’ve owned many Jeep Wranglers throughout my life, most, overall, were not very reliable. The first one I ever owned, a little 94/95 4 cylinder base. No A/C, no console etc was one of the best vehicles I ever had. Sure it was a gas hog, but I never had a problem with besides a dead battery he whole time I owned it. I bought it with 20k mileage and sold it with about 144k. I loved that thing. Everyone after that seem to be made cheaper and cheaper. Yet, I still bought them. Stupid me. Are there other vehicles more reliable, getting better gas mileage, that are better priced and made? That’s a strong, strong yes.

There’s just something about Jeep, and Jeep knows it.

My '95 YJ was amazing. Not a single problem. Except for it getting stolen thrice.

I believe that Harley Davidson is another example of the point you made. I have several Harley's and always will but in all honesty, if I were going to do a coast to coast trip there are more reliable choices1

Have you ridden the new Indians? If you do I doubt you’ll want to go back to HD unless you’re one of these dyed in the wool fan-boys.

I never understood the mentality of the fan-boy types. It makes no sense to give undying loyalty to a corporation or manufacturer of goods. All it is is a piece of equipment.

I tend to think of it the other way. The manufacturer needs to be loyal to me by producing the best it can. If it takes me for granted by producing crap, assuming I’ll buy it regardless, I’m going to find another manufacturer...

The new Indian scout bobber is a good looking bike. I’ve been debating on getting one for about a year.

Not a fanboy of anyone or anything. Nor a Harley snob. However, Like it or not, there are Iconic products and brands and in my opinion, Harley Davidson, Smith & Wesson and Jeep are three of them. (A blind person can tell you they are listening to a Harley) The fact that they are made in the U.S.A. will score points with many including myself. Are these products worth it? That is answered by a person's financial situation as well as their perceived worth. As Americans, we are fortunate to have choices and choose accordingly.
