Heated seats and steering wheel glitch?

I've noticed the heated seats and steering wheel powering on at startup sometimes. Driving to work yesterday the seats and steering wheel heater were off. I stopped for gas and when I restarted the jeep the driver seat and steering wheel heater came on. Anyone else experience this?

It reminds me of my radio in the 2014 JK resetting itself, losing all station presets and equalizer settings for no apparent reason.

Do you have this feature turned on through UConnect? If so, heated seats and steering wheel will come on if temps are below 40 degrees. You can program it to turn off if you do not like it.

They will turn on when it's 40 degrees and lower out. So it was over 40 when first started, then when you stopped for gas it was 40 or lower when you started back up.

I'll check later today but that makes sense because I park in the garage where its about 50. By the time I get down the road a little ways the temp sensor is reading low 30's.

Interesting. Is the purported erratic temp sensor data also used by the FI computer? I ask because it may be possible the engine is being told to do things that are based on inaccurate data leading to running issues or worse. I appreciate the modern electronic controls but things were a lot easier when we had carburetors and distributors. Yeah, I am a Luddite.

The the OP's case, No. It working as designed. In 50 degree garage at first startup, then in 30 degree weather at gas station.

This feature surprised me one day as this is my first winter with it. Out came the manual, and I turned it off. I don't like my Jeep telling me what to do! Besides, it turned the seat heat on full blast.

Well that explains it for me too. Good to know. I always thought the truck was just being nice and randomly heating my butt. Well, it kinda is.

Personally, I love this feature. I am remodeling my garage and the JT and wife’s MB are parked outside. I hit the remote start when it is cold, five minutes later when I get in it is already nice and toasty. Then I turn it off. It’s nice when the weather goes from this to this in 24 hours.
