Hi - I had my Jeep detailed and the wiper and light control stalks on the steering wheel were scratched from what looks like polish. Any ideas for fixes or least make it look better. Thanks

Why not take it back to the detailer & have them make it right?

Definitely going to. Just not sure if there is anything they can do either. Was seeing if anyone had any experience with something similar.

It's scuffed plastic - no fix.

Can't unscratch or unscuff plastic. If it was shiny, it could be buffed out. These are textured, can't re-retexture them.

I'm guessing that they used a drill with a buffer pad on it to do the gauges and accidentally rested the spinning chuck on the levers.
Reason #764 to do your own detailing.

Power tools around plastic?
Buffer on the gauges?
Smack 'em, smack 'em hard.

The quicker and easier the guy you hired last week can get it done, the more money in your pocket.
They said they did everything by hand. I think it was from wiping off the polish afterwards that then polished the plastic on the switches. They want me to bring it back and look at it and see what they can do.

I've seen some pretty amazing leather and vinyl repair work using just the right amount of heat and texture.
I hope they can work some magic but as it was said above i dont know how since it was lighter and textured before and now it is darker and smooth.

Probably make it look better but perfect ? I have come close before using latex hobby paint water based. Either satin of flat. It comes in little bottles for $1.50 or so. You dab in on kind of dry. I use my finger tips usually. You kind of rub it in so to speak very lightly. Of course practice makes perfect. Good luck !!

You've done this on the plastic like on the wiper and light controls?

I have repaired many door panels, dash panels, steering wheels, seats etc….This paint sticks to plastic, vinyl, leather even glass. If it looks bad when you do it ,wipe it off and try again it’s water based. Once dry it holds up very well.
