My boss has a Land Rover Evoque. I have a Mojave. We work on a street that is constantly under repair. Months back I had bruised my ribs. On my ride into the office i never really noticed how bad the roads were. Then my boss wanted to go out to lunch. He always drives. Every little road imperfection was absolute pain all across my side with the busted up ribs.

So that's my story comparing my Mojave to a luxury SUV. The mojave eats bumps better. Due to SFA things, there are areas where it's wonky. Slow turn over an iregularity only under one tire and the Mojave will do some side to side rocking the Evoque wouldn't do. But if i ever bust my ribs again and the boss wants to go out to lunch, I'm driving.
The Evoque is not a "real" Land Rover in my book. That aside, it has huge rims and very low profile tires, which is what gives you the harsh ride. If you put 17" rims on it with some 70-series sidewall tires...it would ride better than any Jeep.

It's marketed, priced, and sold as a Luxury SUV. Whether or not it's a real Range Rover (The official make and model is Land Rover Range Rover Evoque) is a matter than can be debated, but there is no debating that Land Rover makes it.

It's a bit like the Mustang Mach-E, you can debate whether or not it's a Mustang, but you can't debate whether or not it's a Ford.

As for wheels and tires, most definitely. I've got 8.68 inches of sidewall to help absorb bumps, whereas the Evoque only has 5.55. But to say the suspension does nothing really overlooks a lot.

@JarHeadLV don't take it as me saying the Mojave isn't an awesome rig. I'm driving an Overland with no lockers or sway disconnect or anything else other than the 34.5" tires I put on it, so who am I to say anything. I just feel the Mojave was a nice profit builder for Jeep.
I don't care if you think a Mojave isn't an awesome rig, this is why we all have choices - and why we all have chosen a specific model. One man's opinion to another's is just that- their opinion. I respect that. BUT, to say Jeep charged the same price and just "pocketed the extra cash" on a Mojave is also your opinion, but after doing research of all thing things that make a Mojave "different" than a Rubicon your comment isn't true. Some of the items cost alot (Fox shocks) and some probably cost a little. Like I said, the Mojave and the Rubicon were built for different purposes and they both have things the other doesn't.

I think we beat this conversation to a pulp. I'm done with this and just agree to disagree.

I have experience with Land Rover, having owned three and still own one. Land Rover's vehicles used to all be very capable, with a rugged chassis and solid axles front and rear, even the Range Rover model. The Evoque has a transverse engine and a unibody, fully independent suspension. It has a punchy turbo engine but a terrible 9 speed auto. It has very, very limited off-road capability.

I still have a 2002 Range Rover 4.6HSE. It was made in the final month of production of the P38, the code name of this generation of Range Rover. What makes it special is that is still has a fully boxed, very large chassis and solid front and rear axles with long travel suspension. Permanent 4WD with a center differential and separate viscous coupling unit, 3.27:1 low range gear reduction, full-float rear axle, differentials offset to the same side front and rear, raised axle breathers for deep water fording, 4-wheel traction control system which only brakes a spinning wheel, no throttle intervention ever, and a small V8 engine. These also came with 4-wheel air suspension which you could control the height but I have converted mine to Old Man Emu coils and shocks. No other modifications, still on the factory tire size 255x55x18, running Toyo Open Country AT3's on this rig. Its a small 29" tire with a low profile sidewall. Ride is good because the coils are so soft. I've thought about a 2" suspension lift and upgrading to 33" tires. I do wheel it occasionally even in stock form. Beautiful interior of course, but it should be. I have the original window sticker, $72k over 20 years ago. Anyway, sorry for getting off track.

I had 2 Range Rover Supercharged vehicles and they were decent vehicles. First one was a Sport , the other was the flagship Range Rover. The brakes were ridiculously STRONG. I wore my first Rover's brakes out at 7,000 miles!!!! (it was fast for an SUV) I never really had issues with them, they were pretty good vehicles, mind you I don't put alot of miles on my cars.

I remember the salesman "warning" me NOT to drive the Range Rover (premium flagship model) after I was set on the Sport, she was RIGHT!!! The Range Rover was badass. Drove like a dream. I purchased that one over the Sport. I guess I got lucky because I KNOW they have the worst reputation for reliability. I took the Sport offroad a few times on like gravel / dirt road with zero obstacles.

The new ones are nice, not very reliable, and less focused on off-road driving with a much greater emphasis on luxury and performance. I guess that makes sense if you are trying to sell vehicles in any quantity, except when it comes to the Wrangler / Gladiator vehicles which stay true to their roots but aren't great performers on the roads, yet still sell very well. The current full flagship RR is a beautiful vehicle.

Im considering trading in my 21 Sport with max tow for a newer or new Mojave. The Mojave has the trailer-tow package.
Everywhere I check it says 6,000 or some places 6500. When I look at the specs the mojave has everything the sport does already yet it tows less?
Mojave
HD Dana 44 wide axles
4.10 axle ratio
Class IV receiver hitch
Trailer hitch zoom
Electronic sway control
8speed Auto transmission

im seriously seeing the samethings yet alli read is itll only do 600 and my small tired more basic sport does 7500.
Not that you asked but a Rubicon automatic gas tows 7,000 lbs if towing is important to you.

@Clarkr32

lots of opinion ping pong so far in this thread. What is YOUR hope for a newer JT? Papa hit it on the head with his point about identifying the primary purpose or intent of your JT.

-Towing?
-Newer features?
-Fewer miles on it?

I like the Mojave a lot, but I tow often. So it wouldn't work for me at all. The payload and tow capacity is just too low. So despite liking it, I wont own one barring unforeseen life changes and I dont bother trying to reinvent the vehicle to fit my needs. I look at the need and then pick the best truck to fill that need with the options I want. (Not saying you are, just as a part of my point) Ive been keeping my eyes out for a stellar deal on a newer max tow.

Wait a year. Even the Sport Gladiator will have the 12.3" screen like the Wrangler...
