Yeah I know. Got robbed. So new sensor. New aux battery. Start stop didn’t work still when I left the dealership.
I hate the start stop so I guess as long as it’s not draining either battery I’ll just leave it. It working.
The problem with that is that if ESS isn't working, there COULD still be an underlying problem you aren't aware of, that will rise up and bite you later.
You don't KNOW the batteries are not having issues, you don't know the main battery doesn't have a problem. There are almost 3 dozen things that can cause ESS to not work - some are things that can be expensive later if not addressed.
I use ESS as a troubleshooting thing - if it's not working, I want to know why - so I can fix the why, ESS wanted or not.
You need to start checking things over - battery voltage when the thing is sitting, not running, monitor the voltage when you drive it, among other things. You could find yourself stuck in a parking lot unable to start it some day.

I can attest that a broken speed sensor wire will shut down ESS ( I prefer ASS) along with a couple handfuls of other systems.

What does your ESS page say? If it says Battery charging, dealership fail. If it say hood ajar, dealership fail. What ever it says undo what it say. Turn off your hvac for now so you don't see those messages.

I'll add to that:
Dealership fail anyway since it was let go without the issue being resolved.

I just called and filed a case against the dealership. I hate to overreact but this has ruined my day for sure. For all I know they never even really did the aux battery and are lying about it. I’ll wait for the case manager to call me and I was told they will contact the dealership

Before they get a hold of your truck again, look at the ESS page. What does it say? Steering wheel buttons. Scroll up or down untill you see ESS.

Turn off the hvac. Then what does it say? If you have the ac on, the cabin must be at the temp you select for that message to go away. That is why I asked you to turn off the hvac, to avoid that message.

If you have your HVAC in auto, and hit that button to turn it off, it goes right into AC mode, then you have to hit that to turn it off.

I had ac on and then turned it off. Also restarted the vehicle with it off and still got that message. Sorry if I’m not understanding. Been a long aggravating couple of days with this dealership for all I know they never even really did the battery change. I have zero confidence in them now

If it says engine not warm enough, you will have to warm up the engine. During that time you can just set you ac to auto and select the temp that is closest to ambient temp. The fan should slow down to a slow speed. All the buttons off should have worked though.

What this page tells you is the reason why ESS will not initiate a stop. Steering wheel turned, check engine light, cabin not to selected temp, engine not warm, and several other messages. Once you meet all of those parameters, one other message could be battery charging. Or even simply Not Ready. Your door switch could be showing open. You just have to undo what the message says.

Thanks to everyone ! Lostwing. I took your advice and what I did was raise my cabin ac temperature from low to 68 degrees. And…. It worked !
the start stop functioned with no issues. Again… many thanks to all of you for taking the time to help on this. Great group of people. !!

Low is a max setting it can never reach. Every loaner or almost of the times a dealer has done major work or even prep, I find it on the low setting
