A strange thing has happened twice in the last several days. First time was this past Monday, second time was this morning. I've started the truck and been going at low speed in first gear (my truck is a 6MT) in a driveway, when all of a sudden I hear a kind of "cloonk" sound and, at the same time as the sound, the radio goes completely dark, then the radio restarts and takes a while to wake up, just as if the truck had been turned off and re-started, and the clock function of the radio completely loses its time setting and goes to 12:00. The "cloonk" sound sounds as if it is behind and above me, almost as if someone dropped a very small scrap of softwood on the back of the hardtop. Maybe it is a sound coming out of the speakers as a byproduct of what seems like an electrical interruption of the radio.
I have a roadtrip coming up in the near future to go pick up a set of Mojave wheels and tires. I don't care about minor inconveniences, but I definitely cannot be "down" for any extended period when away from home.
Does this sound like an issue with the ESS system? [I nearly always turn the ESS off, either when I first start the rig or when I come to the first stopsign or red light and the ESS does its thing once and reminds me to turn it off]. The conditions in which this has occurred were not conditions in which the ESS should be doing anything at all, the truck has been in first gear and in motion.
I don't expect this is the radio, but in case it might be and if this might be relevant, I have the most basic 5" radio
Hoping someone here may recognize this pattern from something others have experienced. I am not keen on my bringing it into the dealer without my first knowing what is going on, electrical intermittent issues seem to yield the the worst of "we couldn't reproduce it when we drove it" [which may often even be true]
Thanks in advance!
