Not sure if this is the right forum to post this in…. Hopefully I get the attention of @ShadowsPapa

TLDR; My uconnect screen went blank. Next day battery was dead. Charged battery and still no screen, no power to usb. Did LOTS of things to no avail, still no screen power or usb power. HELP!

2020 JTUR Launch Edition. My 8.4 inch u connect screen and USB ports front and rear are not working.

Background, I have JL TAZER, and I always have start stop turned off.

About two weeks ago, I started seeing the Avenger Logo on the dash. Didn’t think much of it because I have start stop disabled with JL Tazer. Saw the start stop warning for about a week.

A little life than a week ago, I went to get a car wash, turned car off and immediately back on, and the U Connect screen went blank. Didn’t come back on.

The next morning, Jeep wouldn’t crank, dead battery. Did the “bouncing needles” thing, wouldn’t crank, even with a jump.

Charged battery for about an hour, Jeep started right up. Still no U connect screen, and no power to USBs, front and rear. All HVAC worked just fine. Drove an 800 mile round trip over two days, and screen never came back on, usbs still didn’t work.

Rebooted JL Tazer and then unmarried it. Drove for a couple of days, no change.

Disconnected negative to the aux battery, and removed the aux battery fuse. No change.

Removed Aux battery completely, removed main battery and fully charged it, no change.

incidentally , I did charge the aux battery after removing it, and the charger showed “fully charged, but the battery only measured about 10 volts, so clearly that’s shot.

Tried “resetting the IBC”, no change.

Looked at a bunch of fuses that were all good, tried to look at anything I thought might be related. No blown fuses.

Removed and checked the Bus Bar fuses (N3 etc) and they all checked out good.

I figured maybe the main battery was not charging or holding a charge even though I took it in and it tested “good”,

Yesterday I bought a new H7 battery from Costco, topped off charge, installed it and drove a few hours, multiple drive cycles, no change.

Let the Jeep sit overnight, checked battery voltage with vehicle off before start, showed 11.7 volts. Started it up, and got the “no power to aux switches/battery is charging warning.

I’m at a loss. My next step is to buy a new aux14 battery, reinstall everything including the fuse, and try again.

Anybody got any thoughts?!

Replace the Aux Battery. Fully charge both batteries before installation. They should both read around 12.8 volts with no load after being charged. If not, the battery is questionable. Put it back to factory condition. Be careful with the cables. Reset the IBS, and check all fuses again. It should be working again. If not, you will need dealer assistance to resolve it.

The truck displayed a Warning that you ignored. Whether or not ESS is used has no effect on charging or battery use. The two batteries are paralleled together all the time, except during the startup test and when ESS has the engine turned off.

Exactly! Ignored the warning signs!.

Using Tazer or some other method to prevent the engine from shutting off at a stop, does just that . Looking at the ESS page even now and then is your best bet. If you see battery charging for long periods of driving, it is time to do something about it. Or you can wait for things to get worse like Aux switches fail , lights on the dash , no starts and other things. I don't care for ESS either, but we are stuck with it for now. You can still use the information it is giving you and do something about it, instead of learning more about it at an inopportune time.

Mr._Bill, you have the OP covered, good advice!

Hello! I just wanted to follow up and check if you found a solution to your problem? I am currently experiencing the same headache.

The OP never got back to say what the outcome was as you can see. If you have the same issues as the OP, work on the battery issue.

Either replace both or charge both and reset the IBS. There is plenty info on this forum about that. Definitely read up on it to prevent shorts and more problems.

If your uconnect still doesn't work after that, you can check the fuse. Hopefully, the low voltage didn't kill it and it starts working after you correct the battery problem.
