Help w/ Mopar 2" lift and Sway Bar links

Installing the Mopar lift today and the sway bar links don't have a nut or anything to help hold it while you wrench it tight. Previously used MetalCloak on my JKU and they had a nut to grip. Maybe I'm missing something, but how in the world is this supposed to tighten?

This has some sort of locking ring/washer but it doesn't seem to do anything. The whole thing spins freely.

There should be a star-shaped tip on the end of the bolt. I had to use a box wrench to hold the nut while I used a star bit socket to loosen it. I wouldn't use an air wrench to tighten/loosen the bolt. It's easily stripped. Ask me how I know...........

Does the shaft have an Allen keyway in the end?

Oh, would you look at that, an allen keyway...

Well, that explains that lol. No idea how I didn't notice it. Now I just hope I didn't screw anything up by popping that ring off.

Sounds like a problem for tomorrow.

Carefull, them allen sockets strip easy, make sure you have the right allen wrench size in it all the way.

At it again this morning and these are turning, but super tight for even the slightest gain. Even using a pipe for leverage, these are insane to tighten. Did anyone else have trouble with them or is this not normal?

I honestly can't remember if that's normal or not. I installed my lift almost a year ago. I mainly remember the nuts that secure the from bumpstops in place were a royal PITA to tighten.

I still have nightmares................

Those were so dumb lol. I threw it in a vice and put the nut on and off 2 dozen times. Helped a ton.

Well this is frustrating. I ended up taking it to a shop for alignment and for them to fix the sway bar links. Turns out the nuts I was supposed to use had slightly wrong pitch and it cross threaded one link. They pulled them both off and said all they can do.

Grabbed a new link from the dealership next door and had them look up the correct nut. Just got home and into the install these are also the wrong ones.

I installed my lift a couple weeks ago. The nuts are staked to act as a locknut. They turn on tough, but I got them. I did use a small extension on my Allen wrench.
