Here is a simple trick for cleaning bed liner overspray out of the trail rail bolt holes.

My dad had a good idea for cleaning out the bed liner from the trail rail bolt holes. Just use a 22lr bronze jag for barrel cleaning. It took me maybe 5 minutes to clean all the holes. I'm assuming you could use a larger caliber too. I already had a 22lr ready and attached it to a Glock cleaning rod. It was simple. You could probably put the bronze jag in a drill also. In case you don't know what a jag is, I attached a picture.

This is some golden advice. Gonna have to pass this one on. Thanks for sharing. Did you need any sort of cleaning liquid for this or was it straight-forward?

No cleaning products. The bronze brush takes the material off easy. It was very straight forward.

I'll add a related tip. I you are having a bedliner sprayed in, the day before your appointment, mush a dab of silicone in each hole so it dries flush. This way, the liner won't get into the threads in the first place.

threads were jammed with bedliner. I put a hot solder iron in it to warm up the material (<5min), then used the Torx M6 from the tailgate as a thread chase. In/out 2x and all was clear.

This is the way!!! 700 degrees on the soldering iron and it melted the bed liner in the holes real quick. I gave it about 7 or 8 seconds per hole and then used an m6 from the tailgate just as described. I had them all clear in probably 10 minutes total.

When I worked at Line-X we would run the factory bolt in with an 1/4 drive impact. Or we would run a tap on a drill at high speed. Yes, both are not ideal but within the 3 years I worked there and hundreds of truck beds, we only broke 1 tap. We'd have every hole in the bed cleared out in less then a minute.

Great info on this thread. Our new Rubicon did not come with the factory bed liner. Was wondering about the tread holes as well.

My question for posting is, there are 2 removable panels near the back of each side. The left side is a long rectangular one and a small square one on the right. A)how hard are those to pop out and B) for those with factory liner, I assume they are NOT bonded in by the lining?

Going to take our to a Rhino liner place and if they have questions about them I want to have intelligent responses!
