I traded in my 2016 Toyota Tundra and got the 2021 Jeep Gladiator High Altitude. I was worried about the ride because I had owned a Wrangler that was not comfortable at all. The Gladiator is not the wrangler. I now have 3000 miles back and forth from North Alabama to north Florida. The ride is much better than expected. I’ve just added the Fab Fours overland bed rack and iKamper rooftop tent. I’m anxious to see how that changes things. Good luck!

Curious as to how that impacts the ride and handling in wind. Also wondering how it impacts mpg. I'd consider that sort of thing to save me getting hotel rooms for car shows and swap meets. I could have the truck bed free for parts - LOVE the thought of that setup you have. Beautiful.

I’m going to Florida next weekend and will report back. For the last 4 years I have used an overland trailer which knocked the MPG for my 2016 Tundra down to 11 MPG. Putting the RTT on the Gladiator helps me consolidate and I don’t have to worry about the 21 point turns when overland camping.

Same damn thing HA vs. Overland other than appearance items -
Body color bumpers, door handles, mirrors,
fancy pattern in the seat leather,
Larger wheels.

Show me something that makes the HA better or more fitting for highway driving than what I have...
So some of that is "standard" on the HA and part of a package on the Overland - otherwise other than looks, I see no differences.

Otherwise my Overland has everything the HA has - including a wonderful ride and handling on the highway. That truck is extremely great for long drives. We (should say my wife) drove from Colorado Springs back to home east of Des Moines - non-strop except for gas and ice cream. 11 hours on the road and neither of us were fatigued.
That's the thing - you get there and aren't worn out.

Have you driven both? The High Altitude has the wider axles.

Just drove a High Alt with a Diesel. Didn't plan on a diesel but thats all they had on the lot in a HA. It drove much better than the Mojave. I was impressed. But I know very little about diesel advantages/disadvantages. In 50 years of owning cars/trucks never thought of a diesel. Going tomorrow to another dealer to drive a HA with the gas engine. Unfortunately, the diesel dealer is one that advertises a low internet price and when you actually start to look at pricing, nobody would meet all the rebate parameters. I look at it as BS so basically walked out and said thanks but no thanks.

And so?
I've driven other "wide axle" Gladiators. There's only 1.5" difference in total, 3/4" per side. Cornering and other advantages to wider, but around here, little else unless you tow. Wider is a bit better when trucks pass you or you pass trucks and in the wind. Otherwise, I didn't really notice a ride difference I'd attribute to width.
Ride differences I saw were due to other factors more than width.

I’m not following your line of questioning
You said “The axles are the same as the Mojave which are better than the Rubicon. ”

So I was asking how are the axels on the HA and Mojave are different from Rubicon and what makes them better? I thought the max tow, Mojave, Rubicon, and HA all had the same axle.

The max tow and Rubicon have wide axels with aluminum steering knuckles. The Mojave and any trims other a diesel have wide axels with cast iron steering knuckles

Yeah, the steering knuckles are different, not the "Axles" per se.

I'm curious - are they actually cast steel? Or perhaps even forged steel, or are they cast - and iron?

So after putting a Fab Fours rack and iKamper 2.0 RTT, my MPG for my Gladiator High Altitude on the highway average speed 75 MPH was at 17 MPG. I'm not sure if there is anything that would increase the MPG except maybe slower MPH.
Curious as to how that impacts the ride and handling in wind. Also wondering how it impacts mpg. I'd consider that sort of thing to save me getting hotel rooms for car shows and swap meets. I could have the truck bed free for parts - LOVE the thought of that setup you have.

Beautiful.
I put the Fab Fours Overland rack and my iKamper 2.0 RTT and don’t really notice any extra wind noise or handling issues. I got 17 MPG at 75-80 MPH. I believe that the only thing that would have helped is for me to slow down.
