I have always put one on the last five jeeps that I have owned.
Driving to work one morning behind a flat bed trailer. A flying chunk of wood came off the trailer and hit the front deflector and threw it above the windshield hitting the top of the frame . It did put a dent in the frame but better then taking out the windshield glass.
Bugs, I don't think it eliminates them.
