So, I’m a relatively new jeep owner(6 months) never owned a 4x4 capable vehicle... so needless to say I caught the offroad bug. I own a stock 2020 sport and got a little carried away and drove her through a mud bog... three times... I came out totally fine... but how do I clean her insides? I’ve read posts about covering the air intake(which is the open space on the front left from a on lookers persepective)the battery (which are top left) and the alternator (which is pretty much dead central) but what if the alternator also has mud on It? I’m a total newbie and not next to nothing about vehicles except don’t drive through a mud bog unless your willing to deal with the consequences... also FYI she’s my daily driver(and yes I know I’m stupid but you live and you learn). I’m just trying to clean her up, thoughts and recommendations are super appreciated!

Let it cool off, hose it down. Be careful around the alternator ( you don’t want to push muck into it with water pressure).

It’s a truck you drove through a bog three times, it can take it!

Just don’t do stupid stuff like pressure washing sensitive areas (reservoirs, electrical, fittings, intake) or pouring water on your fuse box and you’ll be fine.

Glad you had fun :)

well id just use some simple green, scrub the dirty areas down and you should be fine,as you can see on my profile pic,you already know everything was a pain to clean, but yeah just dont be dumb and hose down vital components,i kinda did and came out fine, but all of the mud came from my fender liners and into my bay,but i (kinda carelessly hosed part of the enginebay) and i daily drive this thing and its been fine ever since,i would of done it a little different if i wasnt all frustrated from cleaning the whole undercarriage of my jeep :CWL:

i let cool off first. shove a rag in the intake opening and then hose (not pressure wash) everything. Once i got the bulk out of the way i spray purple power every wear and lightly agitate with a soft bristle brush. then rinse again. repeat as needed. REMOVE RAG FROM INTAKE. then your done.

I dont do water in any form for me I wipe it with about ½dozer microfiber clothes and some meguirs detail spray . I seen a story where guy got water in fuse box made bad things happen. Not taking the chance even if it's small.

I've pressure washed mine more than once - but on LOW pressure, never the full blast of a car wash wand and never the red nozzle of my pressure washer.
