Anybody know anything about Hooke Road products.....in particular their Side steps tubular running boards linked below ?
I really like the looks of the double round tube (upper and lower)….just not a fan of the "star" cutout in the step portion....(looks like somebody's gonna get their foot caught in that thing). How about their overall quality ? Also, If anybody has any ideas about covering the ugliness that is the pinchweld ! Most of the sliders only have those small black mounting pads......that'd be great if my truck was black......but its not. I'm wondering if painting that little lip black would help ?

I don't have those ones, but I like the ones on mine. Seem to be made pretty decent. First time having a truck so don't have anything to base my experience with them on anything else. I know true offroaders don't like side steps because they can get caught on rough passes but my dogs use them to hop up in the truck.

I don't plan on any rock crawlin'.... just beach cruisin', I just like the look. Dogs are more important anyway !

Same here, I don't have the ones you're talking about, but I have the same ones as Brent. The quality does seem good, but they are completely straight and don't seem to line up against the pinch weld as nice as I would like them to for the flush look. If I were to do it again, I would go with the N-Fab ones because they are slightly curved to mate with the pinch weld perfectly and look more factory. If you look at a picture of the rubicon rock rails that someone has taken off, you'll see what I'm talking about. Definitely can't beat the price and fast shipping though!

The N-Fab "Podium" were the ones I originally liked.....I think they actually have 4 mounting brackets per side (at least the ones they show in the picture do), but they I saw a "triple-tube" set up that was a full running board up top, and a lower rock rail on the bottom, and I really liked the way it looked. Wifey likes the full running board on top, and she never complains when I buy stuff for the Jeep

It is a cool look, but I'm with you on the tackiness of the stars. The Podiums look great, the way the tubes bend towards the body by the fenders is sweet. You really can't go wrong, those pinch welds are ugly and I was asking the same question as you about covering them. I actually was considering covering them with plasti-dip or some sort of black vinyl before settling on the steps I found on Amazon.

I saw a Rough Country item that was an actual piece of metal that bolted up using the holes in the pinch weld that are already there.....it was black textured and it had "RC" laser-cut into it......it looked real nice. Nobody wants to see the pinch weld "mounting pads" that are always black....especially when you have a different color truck !

I just installed Ace engineering rock sliders. Great look and very well made. They bolt on using the 3 body mount bolts. They do also work with or without the rubicon rails. Might not be exactly what you are looking for but just another review on another product to confuse you further haha

Those look great! Without the rubi rails on there, would you see the pinch welds you think? it only mounts to the body holes underneath, right?

I got a bed rack from them (made for a new Tacoma but it works great on a Gladiator) and installed a RTT along with some other accessories and took it on a 4,000 mile roadtrip which the rack handled with ease. I was surprised with how well made the rack was with it being an unfamiliar company selling equipment at a lower price point; good, thick metal with a nice powercoat on it (which I put to the test while installing the RTT lol) as well as quality, SS fasteners and additional accessory mounts that would normally have to be purchased separately. From my experience, I would definitely recommend giving them a shot!

I want to say yes. They might cover them at certain angles but definitely do not cover them up like the rubi rails do, but they might draw your eye away from the pinch welds once installed

and yes. Only mounts to the three body mounts underneath. Super easy install. I recommend taking the bolts out by hand and not an impact. Zip them in with impact just to get them close and then torque down (they are long bolts lol)

They were definitely a little pricey compared to others but they check off every box on my pros list and came exactly as expected. Keep an eye out on any sales they run. They are constantly emailing me discount codes.

Apparently they are a sponsor here. Wish I knew before I ordered :headbang:
