So I got a truecar price through USAA and it's a pretty significant discount on a Rubicon Gladiator. The dealer contacted me and now refuses to honor that price. Aren't they contractually obligated to honor it considering they are the ones that set the pricing for it? Can I call them out on it? The difference we are disagreeing over is $900 dollars.

Thanks for any advice!

Have no idea how truecar works . Read their webisite though as they may have a guarantee .

900 bucks wouldn’t be a deal breaker for me but a dealer lying would .

You can get USAA involved see if that works, they have an arrangement with them. But they don't have to honor anything at the end of the day. But you should have a voucher you can print from usaa, I'm guessing that will do the job.

I work for a Jeep dealer that is part of a TrueCar network. If you go through the USAA car buying program it generates your name as a TrueCar/USAA customer. What it gives you is dealerships that are TrueCar certified, and the discount that they are exclusively giving to you. With USAA you usually qualify for a $500 rebate for either military or affiliate through USAA. There isn't a contracted number that they give to you in a quote, it's just like shopping a deal online. If they are not correctly applying the rebate that might help you get closer to your goal. If not, another dealership with USAA and TrueCar should be able to help. Ask them to search through TDM's when pulling rebates. If they don't know what that means, then they aren't searching for all the rebates. If no TDM pulls up, it might not be available on the Gladiator. $900 seems like a really tiny gap to close in my opinion, they should at least meet you halfway.

Thank you for the reply and the info. So they already gave me a military rebate of $500, but I feel like that should be separate from the truecar certificate that USAA gave me because the dealership will get that reimbursed from FCA, correct.

I know $900 isn't a huge deal to be haggling over, but if this dealership set the price in truecar, I guess I don't understand why they won't honor it. I have the price in a voucher/certificate right off of the USAA page and under the discounts it specifically says "guaranteed savings". I feel like they should honor it.

Thank you again!

It is an estimate. Some dealers will honor it, others will get close.

The certificate includes your USAA discount. It does not get reimbursed by FCA, FCA just gives the discount to you. It is a net zero loss for the dealership. With the certificate it gives you a no haggle price that can sometimes be wrong, or doesn't disclose all rebates used in the offer. Just like any offer the dealership can decline it, it is not set in stone.[/QUOTE]

First thing is contact USAA, unless things have changed USAA will no longer do business with that dealer if they will not comply. I have used USAA True car several times. At one dealer they said they would comply with it, but the windshild had over $1500 of Life Time Window Tint $270 (for real) and some other stuff just as comical. I told them I would give them $15 bucks, so I bought from another USAA Truecar dealer....
