Mine measured 42" to the top of the bed liner on the thickest part of the tailgate. I did the install on my driveway but had to pull into the road to get it flat to ensure it worked....I was nervous about those 3 inches! :CWL:

No need. Works perfectly!

Pics of install to follow. Notes: 1) Don't use all of the factory screws. They are much too long and may interfere with the bed hardware. Especially for the tie down. Really close to the internal hardware. 2) Open up the large access panel and make sure you don't screw into anything. 3) Use my placement as a guide only. Your tailgate may look different inside. 4) I may get some black silicone or some sealant and go over the screws to prevent rust and water leakage....maybe Black Flex Seal? 5) OMG!!! It was the first time that I've ever just walked up into my bed!!! Usually climb up on the bumper or wheel. This think is AMAZING and super sturdy! 6) Pay attention to the mounting area. I have 2 spare holes due to misplacement, so I hope this helps. Oh...and the little crappy washers will get removed before sealing.

I tried to attach pics, but cannot. *edit* switched from Firefox to Chrome....

Looks like you did a great job !

Are the included screws "self tapping" ? or are they bolt/nut type ?

How much of a climbing angle were you left with when the ladder is on the ground ?

When the ladder is deployed to the bed side, the tailgate looks like it angles up due to the ladder resting on the tailgate retention cable... is this happening or is it just the picture ?
IF
It is , do you see a way around it ?

I know ShadowsPapa has a different setup, but I think he made a cut/bracket to avoid it somehow.

Thanks for sharing, you did a nice job.
I bet it felt great to climb up into the bed using it the first time after the installation...

Good work !

Thanks! They are 1 1/2" self-tapping that come with it. I have 12 that I didn't use.
I used 1/2" and 3/4" of my own and one thicker allen-lock type. If I did it again, I wouldn't even use the longer ones that come with it.

2 bolt/nylocks for the legs (13mm).
I added extra blue lock-tight to those, and the large nuts with spacers (19mm). While they were also nylocks, I prefer to also add lock-tight.

I put red on the swivel retaining screws (#2 Phillips)
I never trust that they add enough...nor that they tighten them down. In this case, 2 of the 4 seemed to have inadequate amounts and one wasn't tightened down.

The angle was good. I didn't measure, but I walked up with flat feet and felt that I was going up stairs, not a ladder.

Where I mount it, it barely touches. You can pivot it more, against the bumper or away without a problem. My biggest concern was clearance at the top for my hard tonneau cover.

Looking back at the ways I have had to get into the bed and once atop the roof, this should have came factory! I did make an bonus hole, which I will close when I get the flex seal.

I've seen several write ups about this and thought I would share.

I've considered this due to my disability.
Hopefully someone that has installed one can chime in on it's functionality and ease of install.

Not much else to say about it. So I will let the pics do the talking.

I needed a 10mm wrench yesterday to bleed the replacement brake caliper I installed. The damn 10mm wrench some how departed the set I put on shower curtain ring with the rest of them. But at least I still have the 10mm sockets but not useful when using vacuum pump to bleed line.
On the bed ladder I've been looking for it to be in stock at my local H.F. to check it out..... for same reason as others I'm getting old n fat. More of a way to get up off the ground too. ;)

Well, already fat.
