This is my opinion on this matter, FCA is not going to spend hundred of Thousands of dollars replacing steering gearboxes unless they have already performed a Risk Assessment and the risk of failure was grater than the cost of performing the TSB. The issuance of a TSB and stopping production of new vehicles with the same parts that are causing the problem, is an indication that safety risk was too high. FCA, by doing this TSB is getting ahead of 2 things government fines and/or a mandated recall. This will go down 2 paths for FCA:
1) TSB will become a recall if enough data is link to it (accidents and complaints).
2) The TSB is successful in keeping the numbers (accidents and complaints) down enough to were the government don't have enough data to mandate a recall. Therefore FCA would have essentially lower the risk by performing the repairs on a portion of the fleet rather than the entire fleet of vehicles affected as it would if the TSB was to become a recall.

Has anyone had any success at dealership with tsb with these parts already installed?
Hi there @JkJT84
If you are in need of additional support while working with your dealer, please send our team a private message. We would be happy to connect you to a specialist for further assistance.

This is exactly what Iā€™m going through right now. I had a 2.5ā€ ReadyLift spacer kit and 35ā€ Nittoā€™s installed and the Jeep literally feels like itā€™s going to fall apart going over any uneven surface. Highways are a disaster. The lift and tires have nothing to do with causing the issue.
Hello @Gladiator8258
We are sorry to hear about your current concerns with your Jeep. Please send our team your VIN in a private message so that we may assist in resolving this for you alongside your dealer.

Wanted to entitle this post "ineligible for tsb because of mopar lift, or complete incompetence by stealership." I took my jeep to the stealership today to get it checked out for the TSB. I drove it back from west texas this weekend and it was unbearable to drive. White knuckle driving the entire trip. Every bump at 60+ felt like I was going to swerve into the other lane.

When I took it to the stealership the suit at the desk told me that he checked out my problem and that he recommends a track bar and a steering stabilizer (which I intend to do down the road, but I am not placing a bandaid over jeep's broken leg). He told me that the only problem with the steering is that I have 35s and only a mopar lift. I asked him several times why the mopar lift doesnt come with these components if these are potential problems. He had no answer. I walked to the parts desk and asked the parts guy if this was a potential problem (I approached him as if I were a prospective customer). He thought it was a ridiculous question and of course you shouldn't compromise drivability by installing a mopar lift kit and the 35 inch tires which the kit states it is capable of running. So these two gentlemen were on completely different pages.

I went back and talked to the suit behind the desk about the TSB. I asked him if the steering box in my truck is steel or aluminum. He stated that the TSB states that the steel and aluminum parts are for different vehicles. My gladiator doesn't have such a part available, according to suit.

Quite frankly, I have no idea what is going on with Huffines if DFW. I am pretty forlorn about the whole situation. I have wanted a jeep for a very long time and saved up to buy one, and now it is extremely unenjoyable to drive. Not only is it a very unpleasant driving experience, but the people at the dealership who are supposed to help me fix my $45k truck seem to lack the knowledge requisite to fix my problem, and the ambition necessary to at least be of some modicum of help.

What would you guys say the next step for me is? Do I take it to another stealership? Do I just buy the trackbar and steering stabilizer and install myself? Do I go trade the gladiator in and go with the Chevy Bison that I was thinking about? I really wanted my wife's next vehicle to be a grand wagoneer when they come out, but if this is how service works with Jeep then I can't imagine spending that much for an SUV. @JeepCares

Here's the paperwork:

I have a Mopar lift and the 33 MT tires that came with the truck but Jeep Cares still fixed the truck and I have no more issues. Contact them

1.) I contacted jeep cares before you jumped on this thread, not because of your brilliant suggestion. (Again specified this in my first post and my second post, which you didn't read but replied to, apparently)
2.) I didn't call you names, I observed that many people think you're an asshole on the forum because you act like one. I called you illiterate because you either can't read or choose not to; I'm not sure which is worse. Also, illiterate isn't a name, it's an adjective.
3.) Oh another really clever suggestion. Wish I could take my dad to the dealership but he died of pancreatic cancer a few years back.

Also, change your picture icon you perv. It weirds me out.
Good comeback
Hope you get it sorted out man!

My 04ā€™ had a leaking main seal at the back of the transfer case. Thereā€™s was a TSB on it but I had a slip yoke eliminator installed. That leaking seal was behind the SYE. To my astoundment they warrantied it. Technically the leak and the mod were unrelated but it seemed like a perfect opportunity to deny the warranty.

The thing is, itā€™s no skin off the dealership to perform work under warranty. Itā€™s FCAs dime. I would contact FCA directly or try another dealership.

Then again, Chevrolet once instructed my fatherā€™s dealership to ā€œrebuildā€ the engine on his Silverado with 20k miles when 2 cylinders lost compression, despite those trucks having a known, documented problem and of course that dealerships donā€™t rebuild engines. They replaced the engine but it took the dealership having to fight with GM on his behalf.

Sometimes the dealership is the good guy in all of this. Seems like a roll of the dice on whoā€™s going to be the a-hole. Sure would be nice if we had better national consumer protections rather relying on stupid torts to come to the rescue all the time or having to bang your head against a brick wall going from idiot to idiot trying to get satisfaction.
