Hey guys,

found a cool video on YouTube of an infinity speaker install on a jeep gladiator has any one else tried this?? Seems like the upgraded system lacks a bit in the high range.

Thanks for sharing! I've upgraded the 8.4 system to those exact infinity speakers on my other vehicles and it made a huge difference. Even better when you run it through a sound processor and external amps, but that is a whole 'nother game. Just the speakers alone make a big difference. I am also thinking about the lower speakers and the ones in the sound bar. Thinking about that?

I've been thinking about adding something like what you mentioned. Any recommendations on a sound processor and a good amp to give me more power/clarity and better EQ control?

It really depends on how much you want to mess with it. I have used equipment from miniDSP, which is a really high quality company with reasonable prices and you will read about them on audio forums. I've used their stuff for both home and car audio and have been very pleased. They now have a units specifically for cars. You can run your high level speaker signal or get a low level adapter from the head unit to the miniDSP for processing, then out to external amps for power, adding a subwoofer. The sound is fantastic, even with middle level equipment like Infinity speakers and JBL amps that I used. You can create highly customized filters for sound correction, adjust relative output level and speaker timing for perfect sound imaging, even in a lopsided arrangement like a car. Johnny Cash was reincarnated on my dash!

My next favorite would be stuff from Audio Control. High quality stuff too at a reasonable price.

You can do upgrades in stages and stop where you are happy. I first recommend upgrading your speakers and seeing how that works, then add amps, then processing. Each addition will reveal better sound. In a Gladiator, I would also recommend first adding something like the Hothead Headliner with the Sound Assassin dampening. That made a big difference on the stock sound.

Overall recommendation- 1) Hot Head Headliner/Sound Assassin, 2) Speaker Upgrade, 3) Amp Upgrade (High or low level input), 4) Sound Processor.

Here is a link to the MiniDSP stuff.

I added the infinity reference REF-6530cx component speakers in the rear. They run on 3 ohm instead of 4 ohm to get more volume out of the stock amp. Pair that with a better tweeter like above. (I used the kenwood KFC-X3C’s) and you’ll get louder volume before distortion with cleaner highs…
BUT then I wanted bass so I added a kicker 10 inch under seat sub/amp combo. Much better now.

ULTIMATELY, new amp is the way to go though.

Those are components-there was space for both speakers?

After I finish replacing the stock 3.5s in the corner dash and the sound bar I will look into replacing the 4" in the sound bar before I upgrade the amp. I have the upgraded Alpine system with the sub/amp so the bass is adequate. I think with a better amp/more control I can get more out of the sub and balance out the sound better. I like having the under seat storage space so I'm trying to see if that gets me where I want to be before turning to an under seat sub. Might add a sound processor later down the line for even better sound but I still have a ways to go. Baby steps

Great insight. I don't have too much experience in all this but just know a bit from my family. Audio Control is the company I've been eyeing as they're pretty well known in the Los Angeles Hispanic community. Their Epicenter was a big hit when I was younger so I feel confident in their products. But I will definitely take your advice and take it in stages. I have the 3.5s covered, but any recommendations for the 4" in the sound bar? Should I just keep it going and also get some Infinity's for the 4" as well?

My other last name is Sanchez, Maybe that is why I like Audio Control too! I would roll with Infinity of the same type. They will all have the same electronic characteristics (ohms and sensitivity) and keep the sound balanced. I have to look in to it more for all the spots. I recommend Crutchfield for getting stuff. It looks like they have worked out how to modify the Gladiator already and they send instructions for taking things apart. They are a little more, but they stand by their recommendations and what they sell so if there is any problem they will take care of it. I have also had good luck with Sonic Electronix, but you have to do your own research.

I put the infinity’s in, did anyone notice the wiring harness seemed backwards? I noticed in the rear they were backwards the black/white was backwards on the harness and I noticed they sounded better in the front with the harness wires switched. I have the alpine 8.4 upgraded system.
