I'm trying to install a decal on the area above the glove box, between the two air vents. I've cleaned the area with Alcohol Wipes, but the decal will not stick, it actually just slides off. Any idea's or suggestions or does the dash come coated now with something that will prevent decals from adhering . Never had this issue/problem before

Clearly the truck is rejecting decoration, I would listen to it.

If you really need it to stay there you could scuff the area with fine grit sandpaper but fitting that perfectly will be difficult

Not worth the effort. I'll keep a clean slate, ok dash

I believe that panel splits in half to release the air bag. Not sure I'd be putting something there that might interfere with that.

I wonder if the whole dash is treated with something unique for water resistance, and that makes it resistant to adhesive.

I tried to stick a command strip hook to mine to the left of the glove box. I went through 5 strips and never got it to stick for more than a couple of days. That's after rubbing the heck out of it with alcohol. I never had that problem with my past several cars.

Weird.

There got to be a trick to it. Ask in the Decal threat, several guys have pics posted with stuff on the same area.

Silly question: are you sure it isn't a window sticker?

I have bought some decals for former vehicles that would absolutely not take on the rear window. I have found the adhesive they used was not a very good one. Vinyl decal paper. Hope that helps. If you let them know they may send another free of charge hopefully not using the same material.

Not advocating for putting vinyl decals on you dash, but it’s your truck and if you want to do it, so be it. My suggestion would be to try the wet method of application. Lots of vinyl is designed to be installed this way to allow you to re-position the vinyl while you are installing it, for the perfect placement

That's a non-issue. Have you seen how powerful airbags are?
Sure have. Experienced them first hand. Have the scares on my face as souvenirs.

And not sure I'd want to chance placing something on a panel that may prevent that panel from separating and instead turn it in to a projectile headed straight for my, or my passengers face.

Mine went on with no problems. Just used a bit of alcohol first. It's my avatar pic.

The first decals I attempted to put on had backing paper on both sides. Screwed it up because I wasn't sure what side was supposed to be sticky... it was a graphic that had no specific side and I didn't want to handle the side I thought was sticky to much..... Cheers!
