I used this Dremel grinding stone to clean out around the holes then I used the thread chaser and lots of wd40 to clean out the threads.

A tap is like 6 or 7 bucks at Home Depot. Why risk buggering up the threads?Just take a drill bit that's smilier size and drill out the holes better. Thats what I did.
Because it's not risking any threads. I've done it twice on two different trucks with no issues and I already have the drill bits so it's free.A tap is like 6 or 7 bucks at Home Depot. Why risk buggering up the threads?

M6x1.0mmWhat size would I use?
I just looked for one that would clear the hole. What size would I use?
This is not a fast fix. Take your time. If it starts to turn hard, back it all the way out, clean it off, and go back in and repeat. If you break it off inside the hole, that hole is ph#@ked.Thanks for the helpful responses to this thread. Just ordered the chaser from Amazon. Spent too much time trying to install my Mopar Trail Rails today and all I did was bugger up one of the install bolts. Looking forward to a better result on Wednesday (after chaser arrives).
