Intake on a budget?

I know these things don't do much for performance but I drive a MT pretty spiritly at times and would like a little growl from the engine. I was looking at the Rough Country one since it's only $150. Can anyone tell me any downsides to this compared to the more expensive ones? I was looking at the fancy AFE one with the silver filter but idk if I can justify $350.

I'm looking at the same thing.
So far, the only conclusion I've come to is I want to stay with an intake that fully encloses the filter, like the Mopar intake or the S & B intake. I just don't want the filter hanging out in the open.

Generally, you get what you pay for. I've never been a fan of CAI's, but I spent the money on the Mopar unit. I went with it because it can use the OEM paper filter, looks very similar to stock, and has a larger air tube with no baffles. It seems to make a little more noise, but there's no distinct performance gains.

Or you can get some PVC pipe and some angles glue together, paint it and replace the stock pipe for way less, if you just want noise and maybe 1hp

Won't I get noise from just the open air box and open ended SB filter from the JLT kit? You saying an after market intake inlet is going to make a big difference in sound compared to the stock inlet ?
