At 32,000 miles I replaced the original Bridgestone Dueler H/T 685 tires on my 2023 Gladiator Sport with Goodyear Wrangler All-terrain Adventure with Kevlar …[$700 for four tires, Yeah, I’m a cheapskate…]
Both tires are 245/75R17.. New tire outside diameter is 31.7”, about .2” larger.
After a few days of driving my check engine light appeared as I pulled in to my driveway after work. It was getting dark and I decided to have a beverage and worry about it later.
the next morning the CEI was not present. After after a few more days the CEI appeared again, moving through the options I saw the left front tire TPMS was not displaying the tire pressure. I knew I had between 35-40 lbs (Florida temperatures varies in the spring, cooler and 40’s to 80’s occur through the day)
Later the CEI disappeared. I returned to the tire shop. I was told a fairy tale by the boss guy that. the TPMS battery had failed and a new TPMS was $135 plus labor.
I choose not to waste time discussing the characteristics of battery life with the “EXPERT’ and I left, weighing the probability of ever returning again.
The occurrence continued intermittently. I decided to return to a dealer for correction.
The dealer‘s service manager could not duplicate the fault, TPMS determined to be faultless and fully correct after over 90 minutes of labor (still under warranty at 32,000+ miles, no cost to me)
I still see random CEI warnings for the left front tire TPMS failure.
As an aside, with mh cruise control set at 55 mph my GPS will display my speed as 54 mph. I attribute to the great .2” outer diametrically of the new tires.
Ho-Hum
