I’ve been running steersmarts steering since 2022. The pro series track bar is great, and the 2.5 ton aluminum tie rod is holding up to extreme abuse, but I keep killing drag link joints. I’m running a top mount (flipped) drag link, and am staying that way to keep it parallel with my track bar. But I’m ready for something that holds up to more abuse. I’d REALLY like to stay with clamps, as I hate hate hate jam nuts. But I need the bushings to survive LOTS of articulation, and the occasional drag link rock impact.

Any suggestions are appreciated. I love the clamp setup on the teraflex drag link, but I don’t think it can be flipped. Thanks everyone.

I went to heim joints, custom steering on our YJ Crawler years ago. Not a daily driver though. You might look into heim joints.

Hitting them on rocks will destroy any joint tho.

Or you might have an asymmetrical issue. Maybe flex ramp it and look for binding.

My first heim joints, and I’m pulling them are the evo rear swaybar links. Too noisy. I want quiet so I can tell when something isn’t right. If they’re noisy normally, it’s going to drive me nuts. Thanks though.

No binding or asym issues. I’ve ramped it multiple times during upgrade stages to check flex and clearances.

You want quiet and durable. Got it.

Small world, EVO did my custom YJ steering maybe 8 or 10 years ago.

I hit the heim joints with a liquid spray, WD40, CLP, or Break Free on occasion. No noise. But we don't use that Jeep much anymore.

You must wheel it hard and a lot. Good for you! I wish I had that much play time.

I hope that you find what you're looking for.

Thanks very much. I’m going to call them tomorrow to talk, but right now curry currectlink is high on the list. Supposedly they work for top mount as well and provide better up travel clearances.

I highly recommend the Currie High Steer ( RockJock ) I’m pleased with mine. Heims have never been recommended for a DD that I have ever seen

They were high on the list, but I actually went with Teraflex. I love their forged bar, and they have a very nice low profile clamp system. It’s not advertised, but the knuckle end joint can be pressed out and back in upside down and it’s flipped. I ordered that and a tapered sleeve from Alex chassis to sleeve the drill hole. I’ll review the whole process, but I think it’s going to be perfect.
