Hello! I go by Coyote Ugly, Long time lurker, first time poster from the Pacific Northwest. Been a Jeep owner most of my adult life. First Jeep was a brand new 95 Jeep Wrangler YJ, I Christened the "Red Dawg". In fact I still have her and she's running strong. Also had a 99 Jeep Cherokee XJ for a tick, Christened the "Crimson Karma", but in the 5 years I had her (was the second owner) she ended up in the shop with my mechanic 2 to 3 time a year, and each time wasn't cheap. She finally gave up the ghost earlier this summer when the tranny went out in the middle of I-5 rush hour traffic. Needless to say my mechanic gave me the "we can fix it, but to be honest, it would cost more than it's worth at this point" line. Really couldn't argue considering the last 5 years of maintenance costs. In the end she ended up on Craigslist where someone hauled her off, maybe to be rebuilt, reborn and running trails and fire roads the way she was intended.

Which brings me up to the present when after doing some research, getting suckered into a work discount for automobile website thingy, found my newest Jeep. First off, been wanting a Jeep Truck for the longest time! Was even looking for a Jeep Comanche at one point, which I don't see a lot of, but when I saw the concept Jeep Truck a few years back I knew I would have one someday, didn't know when, didn't know how , but I knew. Then the Gladiator rolled off the line a couple of years back. Every time I saw someone drive by with one, or I saw one parked in a lot it just made me envious of their owners. When I saw the price and with two Jeep already it was out of my reality to have one. Then the afore mentioned happened. I lost the Cherokee, the work discount thingy, and before I knew it I'm driving my 2021 Willys Jeep Gladiator JT home, Christened the "Gray Goose". It didn't help my cause when at the dealership after test driving it with my wife and kid and as soon as we got back to the dealership my 7 year old tells the salesman, "We'll take it!" So much for negotiation, but we did drive it home that day, that was back in July. And while I'm still in sticker shock I have no regrets. Loving my Jeep Truck!

Anyhoo, sorry for the wordy intro, but just thought y'all enjoy a little background of the newbie.

Thanks for reading and Happy Aloha Friday all!

Well,....Welcome...I too fell in love with them when I heard they were coming out and the slow trickle of sneak peeks started hitting the ads, I asked the local dealer to inform me when they were going to arrive (it was going to be a RCAF retirement gift to myself) and the day they received the first one and placed it in the showroom I got the call.

Wife and I went to take a look, after work, and it was a sport, not what I wanted, I wanted the Overland with color match fenders and hard top, but that was one of the ones to arrive in the next weekly shipment, I did some quick sales figuring and decided on price and trade in for mine to arrive the following week, and was ab out to leave to wait an additional 7 days, but the wife stopped me, she sat in the chair and asked what she could get for her car and ended up buying the first one in our city before I bought mine.

Low and behold two weeks later and we had two JT's sitting in our driveway.

Nice willies, hope you have as much fun in yours as we do with ours.

Thank you for the welcome and I am enjoying it albeit only been able to use it for commuting to work. Sometimes I even go out on my breaks just to look at it. But one of these days I’ll get some time off to really enjoy her other than daily commutes and/or the occasional camp trips with the tribe.

And to think you’ve got two! Double the fun. Thank you again for the welcome and Jeep on!

Welcome brother!

How many miles on Red Dawg there? My wife asked me how long Jeeps last and I couldn’t give her a good answer other than a long time.

Nice Jeeps! Your son is living the good life!

YJ's go great with JT's, the grill slant callback still makes me smile!

Well, the Dawg currently has 232,707 miles. Been on the road since 95’ and was my daily commuter. Definitely been reliable, easy maintenance and has saved me more than once (at least 5 run in with other cars where the Dawg came out unscathed other than a dented bumperette, but you should’ve seen that Taco’s bumper). So considering she’s from the last century and still on the road, I’d say yes.
Could’ve traded her in, but honestly, I love my Wrangler just as much as my Gladiator.

It took my wife a full year before she insisted on moving to a Jeep. We went with a JL for her but no regrets being a 2 Jeep family. Except for now any little mods I do cost me twice as much…because I need to buy 2. Dead pedal, grab handles, floor mats, door sills, already. Next it’s the tires and the lift, just empty every pocket.?

You gotta love the Jeep community! Thanks y’all.

Totally brings me back to the first time I drove The Red Dawg (my YJ) home from the dealership and another Jeeper waved to me. My first Jeep Wave. I waved back not knowing why but it kept happening everywhere I went. Until I asked a random Jeeper about it and you all know what he said….”It’s a Jeep thing.” And I began to understand. I remember a time I couldn’t pass another Jeep without seeing a wave.

Unfortunately, I haven’t seen the same love since I’ve had the “GOOSE”. Maybe 1 out of 5, this between 2D Wranglers, Gladiators and 4D Wranglers. I chalk it up to distraction, lack of understanding being a Jeep owner or just plain ignoring me. Regardless to each their own.
I still wave, in my Wrangler or Gladiator, been doing it since my first because it is a Jeep Thing.

Then may I recommend you jump on this right away. It makes long drives noticeably more comfortable!

Yeah, been wondering about those. Been driving a stick so long going to an automatic in my Gladiator is kinda weird without that third pedal. Wife can’t drive a manual…good anyways…so to get her green light on a new Jeep, had to be an automatic. I like the idea of a dead pedal though. It’ll give my left foot someplace to go. Thanks! I’ll check it out!
