I agree with the last half of your last sentence. But to say “We are all HUMAN and make mistakes” sure, but this incident wasn’t a mistake it was careless workmanship. There’s a difference.
It was even worse than careless. That tech chose to not even bother wiping up the mess he left. Its not like he didn't know it was there.

By the way. You and I are in total agreement. Its essentially fraud. Except that on the repair order in small print it says something like. "This business uses flat rate manuals in the pricing of labor for repair work" or something like that.

Typically the lowest level techs do oil changes anyways. They just blast them out.

A good independent shop would take care. If oil did splash, brake clean and a rag would be used to clean it.

As a guy who has always had a new expensice German car in my garage, I've learned to lower my expectations at any domestic brand, or economy brand dealership.

Go buy a new Porsche if you want great service.

Or Volvo, best new vehicle experience I have ever had.
Tried to convince my wife to come and see how a dealership should be run, but for some reason she wouldn’t. I guess she has been brainwashed by FCA/Stellantis.?

I know this thread is talking about something different in terms of dealer pride but ultimately because 90% of dealers piss me off, I always take off any stickers, badges or plate covers that market the dealer. Call it a petty move - don’t care. If you ask me, I’ll tell you what dealer I got it from but I’ll also give you a million reasons why you should approach with caution.

OP: Those photos look just like a Jeep dealer’s interpretation of a free oil change...

I sold my Polestar V60 for my Gladiator. I miss that car, but I never drove it.

At the risk of sounding like a complainer I wonder what folks think of this mess the dealer made.

Had my oil changed this Wednesday.
Parked in my garage until today. Noticed about an ounce of oil on my floor in several small puddles.
My 2nd oil change at ~6500 miles and the drivers side of the engine is such a mess it splattered on electrical components and the shock. The tech spun the filter off and let it go everywhere. And then didn't care enough to wipe anything off.
Photos were taken after it dripped for 2 days!
Send photos to the dealer and said once I clean it - if its actually leaking I will contact them.
Not worth the 1.5hr round trip.

Funny enough I just changed the oil/filter in my wife's Mini Cooper - about the same oil filter placement.
Simply putting a rag next to it kept the oil from splattering.
Cant wait to do my own oil changes!

I am really annoyed as I keep my jeep very clean and garaged.
Is there such thing as dealer pride anymore?

We are fortunate in North Idaho to have two Jeep dealerships and so far I’m grateful for both. Dave Smith and Findlay

We have one in my town of 33,000.
Awesome dealership, but I am biased and spoiled because my wife is the service department boss. She knows I would be “one of those” customers if they screwed up, so she makes sure everything is done on time and proper, with no messes left.
Maybe y’all should sleep with your dealers service manager for better results.????

Well I did get a phone call from the service manager. Was at work but he did leave a message. Basically a lame apology and a number to call him back. I know what it's like to deal with customers so don't envy the guy - esp when the mechanic screws up.
... and no, I will not be sleeping with the service manager :)

Your last sentence reminds me of the service manager at the Jeep dealer in Hampton, VA years ago. She was way young and way hot. But wow, that poor woman knew NOTHING about Jeeps or any other vehicle. I bought my wife's XJ there and really grew to hate the service department. They outright refused to do warranty repairs by refusing to acknowledge anything was wrong. My wife's XJ could have burst into flame right in the dealer service bay and they would have said, "What fire?".

More and more dealerships aren't about serving customers. They are about financing a private island where the owner can park his superyacht.

So I called the service manager and arranged to have them clean the mess, provide me a car for the day and insisted on an extra oil change as comp for my troubles. While Im not happy about the mess and the time it cost me I think this is a reasonable result.

This is why I will NEVER bring my Jeep to a dealer for anything other than safety recalls or catastrophic failure.

Can't say for all dealerships but Autonation by me for a time was pretty bad but they got new management and so far the last year they have really seemed to turn things around. My last two times in to get oil change and replace sun visor they called me after the service to make sure that everything was ok and if any issues just to let them know
