some of my best tire i've had are the dueler tires stock tires. Still running on stock duelers on my current max tow gladiator and planning to potentially buy the new dueler accents versions or stay with dueler RH-S in either standard or load C. Not the sexiest tires but very good and underated. Could care less about what people think.

I believe many people make mistakes in builds because they are worried about looks and what other's think instead of form and function. F what others think my friend
What about the value of what you think? I love the look of MY gladiator. As far as function, that's the reason I run aggressive tires. They see dirt and rocks and mud and snow regularly. If you look at a built rig and assume it's all a waste because of your use, you're doing it wrong. Sure there are those that go full build just for the looks, but I assume rigs are built up for the same reasons ours are, form AND function where stock doesn't cut it. I agree with the last line though, F what others think, but do what makes you happy. If big aggressive tires on your pavement princess make you happy, go for it. If 30" street tires on your lifted gladiator make you happy, you do you.

I have a fairly decent set of off road type tires on the gladiator. its currently at shop getting some last minute work done before i actually own it.

was wondering if I picked up a set of wheels and tires that look like normal truck tires, would that be too bad ? I just thought I would run those during the day in the city. save my aggressive tires for when I need them .
I have a brand new set of tires sitting in my garage, came of my Sport S. Up for grabs.

I bought my '21 Gladiator Willys about three years ago, and it had very low miles, and had the OEM rims and MT tires and they looked close to new. I had anticipated a noisy and bumpy ride, and to no surprise the ride was both. So just a few miles into ownership, I swapped them for the same size HT's and both issues were greatly improved. The only negative in making the swap is now I hear more wind and engine noise. :giggle:

I agree, I love walking about and taking two or three looks at my gladiators lol When i have my diesel full body hydro-blue overland i barely added anything to it because it was so beautiful looking on the and very very capable with that diesel power! I went back to 2024 base max tow sport when i started over i went back to very basic with roll up windows, soft top and manuel locks. wanted that old school less tech feel to begin a rugged type retro/tatical build.(I do miss the heated wheels and seats).

What i was hinting at to the OP is that F and forgot what so-call "rules" or if the community will approve what you with your rig. I see and hear people all the time with issues because they got bad advice then wonder why they develope all sort problems because they was worried about looks first before understanding when you replace this with that it will cause this issue and that issue, etc. Then you get into that never ending build cycle

My Sport S came with street tires. While I think it looks a little goofy, I do like the quiet, smoother ride compared to my modestly built TJ on hybrid all terrains. I'll probably run them for a while before I move on to a little bit bigger, more aggressive tire. The factory rake needs addressed as well. Do I care what folks think of the look? Not even a little bit.

Mine came with the stock Sport highway tires. Just before a trip to CO I changed them out to all terrain tires of the same diameter, which is good for towing and acceleration, but they are a bit wider, which is good for handling, and load range E which is good for offroad strength and controlling the trailer, and three peak rated for snow. The result was about a 10% hit in fuel efficiency. Came back from the trip with the sidewalls all scuffed up, but no flats. No need to change tires back and forth. For day to day suburbia plus occasional cross country tow and trails, they work great. No lift, so I have to stay with medium trails, but it brings the family across the country for some great fun, and then back home again.

The wife’s JLU Sport S came with road tires. My JTR came with the Falken ATW3. I routinely run hours on the highway, and I really cant tell any difference in tire/road noise. Now granted, she has a soft top and I have a hard top, so the wind noise is more in hers.

To me, it wouldn’t be worth the trouble of keeping up with another set of tires and honestly I would probably never swap them on. My use case is driving 20-30 hours on the highway to get somewhere I am going to be off-pavement for a couple weeks. I would be lying if I said I didn’t like the aggressive look of AT/MT tires on a truck. However, if all you do is on-road, it makes sense to use the correct tires. I considered this when thinking about keeping my stock 285’s and mounting a set. of 37’s for play. I just know I am going to gravitate to one and then never swap on the others. I am also limited on garage space right now, so I wouldn’t want to store them.

I typed all this so you could see what “I” considered. However, none of that really matters. It is what is reasonable for you. I have seen a lot of stuff in the jeep world that I think is just ridiculous. It doesn’t matter though, because it’s not my jeep. Do what works for you.

When I bought my first Gladiator (Overland) it came with LT tires. I lived in Western NC and knowing that I had a cross country move coming in the next year I decided to run them on every type of road and terrain I could before I decided what I really wanted. Those LT tires did well on the east coast where most trail are soft and wet l, and the rocks are nice and smooth, especially in the mountains. They handled dry and snow well and I was starting to think maybe they were all I really needed. The good gas mileage and low road noise were very nice features.

Then I moved to the South West…

I was glad I had those LT tires on when I drove the thousands of miles of highway to get to my new home!

So now I need to say I drive very little for personal need. I do not commute to an office since I’m part of a global team and work from home. My wife has a VERY NICE vehicle that we drive around town when needed, though she prefers riding in mine 🤣. Our groceries are delivered by Amazon Prime mostly, and sometimes my “work week” goes by and I don’t get in my vehicle at all. But on weekends or weekday afternoons, when I decide to leave my laptop and I do drive it’s usually on my way to-from local desert trails or distance destination trips, to go off-road.

For those that don’t know, desert trails in the SW are made out of crushed knives. Everything is sharp and cuts. Within months my LT tires had cuts that went down to the belts ,confirmed with a metal probe, and chunks of rubber missing all over the threads.

So at a whopping 24k miles old my tires were trashed, worn out and my dealer told me these are UNSAFE even for local street driving!!!

So I did my research went to 34” Wildpeaks and never looked back. Not ONE cut, not ONE piece of rubber missing in the last over 8k miles since I switched.

So funny we all talk about sizes, threads, looks etc when intended USE and rubber composition should be main factors in tire selection and they are hardly ever mentioned.

So it’s amusing to me that I see so many threads that just do the generic ask about “best tire for a Gladiator”, and answer after answer strongly affirming the posters favorite tire and NO ONE asking, “What are you using your Gladiator for?”.

So think deep and realistically about your intended uses and determine your actual needs and THEN ask targeted questions the hopefully will get objective, thoughtful and factual answers.

thanks for the answers . i really was being sarcastic when I said "against the rules" . I dont really care what everyone else does . in the end I will do what I want to it since its mine.

but really I dont mind having 2 sets of wheels. It allows me to change the look when I feel like.
