Let me start this thread out with some facts. I had a set of front and rear bumpers on my JK from JCR and a rear bumper on my Tacoma. Generally, they have quality state side manufactured steel.

To add to that, the Cab Height bed rack I also ordered from them was good, no issues.

That leads me to Mauler front bumper, their customer service, and my experience. I'll bullet point to keep it short.

* I made the mistake of not test fitting the bare bumper because silly me, I expected a bolt on item to fit. WRONG, the frame horn plate holes were off by more than 3.5 mm on either side. Ended up having to die grind the frame. When I contacted them about it, the attitude was like "Hey, we laser cut these bumpers so your frame must be "off"..." Yeah, Jeep has looser tolerances than your fab shop...

*roll eyes*

* The bolt on trail hoop doesn't actually work at all. The mounting bolts sit directly on top of the frame rails making it generally impossible to have the bumper sit low enough to align the studs with the frame horn plates. Awesome, already coated the bumper as one piece after priming everything separate. Had to sand down the coats aleady applied on top to remove the lines where the hoop plates were. Not a happy camper. Hoop is a worthless feature from them unless you weld it on yourself.

* Correct the coating after everything is checked, ready to mount it. Fits nicely without the hoop and the frame horn plates clearanced. All good!? NOPE, fog light pocket on the driver side accepts the factory fog perfectly, passenger side, 2mm off all the way around, bumper is already mounted and coated...

Fuck.

Grabbed the Dremel and a stone grinding bit and clearance that opening too. Finally get everything together.

Try to contact them about these issues again, leave my name/number for the sales guy I worked with to spend these dollars. He still hasn't called back.

I know that things aren't always perfect, but this particular piece of armor was a pile of crap. Test fit your armor from JCR before you send it off for powder or coat it yourself. This was really a pain in the ass and a let down, I have stood by them for a long time, not the quality and service I have seen in the past. I had a buddy who ordered the whole Enchilada rear bumper/swing/carrier combo, tried to install it, ran into all kinds of issues, ended up selling it, and moved to a different brand. I defended JCR, almost gaslighting him a little, now I see what he saw.

A bit disappointed, TBH.

Ditto.. had the same issue with the Front Bumper from JCR.. all I got was take pictures so they could visual.. Hell no I was not and did not remove the bumper to take pictures.. I did get several communications via email from someone at JCR. It was 2 hours of work to oblong the holes to get them to mate up with the frame mount studs.

I knew about the driver and passenger upper/outer holes being smaller, but none of the holes lined up correctly. Meanwhile, my other friend who bought a DV8 Chinesium bumper bolted his right up, no muss no fuss. Kind of irritating. The problem lies with them making this a one size fits all solution for the JK/JL/JT now. Supposedly they're all the same, but I think the dimensions on the JK are slightly different.

Don't get me wrong, it looks good now that it's on, just took me two weeks to overcome these hiccups, that shouldn't have been hiccups. It's mostly buyer beware in this thread. Be prepared to work for the look.

Sounds like every install I have done lately. First a dv8 tire carrier where I needed to “oblong out” some holes to borrow a phrase. Then a rack I am working on required tapping to get a bolt in.

What is the verdict on the remote reservoirs? Any extra work needed to clearance them?
Everything fits, the big concern was skid plate interface and not having enough room. That wasn't an issue.

Sad to hear this. It used to be when you paid for quality you could expect quality. Seems like you should have someone in quality control that cares about the reputation and survival of your company. I don't own a welder (yet)...

Just in case anyone wants an update on these bumpers, nothing has changed. I reached out to Customer service before ordering one bringing up the issue with the bumpers not lining up correctly and was assured that it was a bad batch, and the issue was fixed. Because i like the look of the bumper over everything else i went ahead and ordered it and the bumper arrived today. went to test fit and the bolts are slightly off. enough that i will also need to oblong the holes to make it work. i do have access to a welder so i will be welding on the trail hoop and i won't worry about trying to bolt it on because i already have a feeling ill be dealing with the same issues of it not being able to mount up. So as of 2024 the bumpers still dont line up and thats a shame. JCR used to make a great product and i wont be ordering from them again.
