Got a message saying my trial subscription to Jeep Connect was expiring, so I went to see what all it was, thinking I might keep it if there was something useful and it was a few bucks a year.

$10 per month
You get:
-The ability to lock/unlock the doors from the app (and honk the horn!). I've used that once.
-The ability to see where you parked in the app. I remember where I park.
-An app for a smart watch. I wouldn't use it if I had one.
-And this last one is my favorite. If your Jeep get stolen, they will tell the police where it is.

How's that for customer service? "We know where your stolen truck is, but we won't tell you because you didn't subscribe to an overpriced service!"

So up next is seeing how difficult it is to remove/disable the tracker. If I get zero benefit from it, they don't need to benefit from it either.

Most things in society have gone to a subscription service to generate recurring revenue…and most are not worth having.

if my Jeep is stollen, I don’t want it back because of all the damage that will likely be done by the thief…I’ll just start over with a new one…

All too true! I might want some of my tools back though.

Seems like you know the answer.

If its the same as the Canyon was…. And I’m pretty sure it is……

That $10 a month is paying for cell / data service. You also….won’t have WIFI connectivity from the truck.

Don’t worry… You’re still connected to BIG BROTHER…. If your truck is ever stolen, they know exactly where it is.

I already don't have that service, but they keep pushing me to pay more for that too!

Stellantis will know where it is, but won't tell unless the ransom is paid!

Amazing how many people seem upset at the idea of not wanting to be tracked and used for profit by every company out there!
Our Bronco Sport Badlands tracks us for free access to remote start and door unlock.

THAT makes sense. You know they're selling your info, but they're at least giving you an incentive instead of charging you.
I thought at least with the fee I'd get remote start, but nope.

If your Jeep is stolen, law enforcement can contact Sirius and they will tell them the info they have on its last known location, subscription or not.

I would think so too, but the app explicitly states otherwise. Not implies like "wink wink, we're trying to trick you into paying", it just comes out and says "pay up, sucka!"

I’m sure you made a typo…. It’s not Sirius. It’s UConnect.

YES…police can use it to locate stolen vehicles. I’m pretty sure…. If you’re in an accident, you can use the SOS to call for help (without a subscription).

It’s the same thing as Onstar… GM actually owns Onstar
Each vehicle manufacturer has its own ā€˜connected services’

No, no typo. SiriusXM Guardian runs the location and remote services on the Jeeps for the Uconnect system.

Interesting….. never knew that. Thanks! I assumed Jeep UConnect was its own entity and not contracted with something else.
