why not have a Jeep Vs Jeep i own a Gladiator and its my first jeep and i have heard abut the Jeep Scrambler and i was wondering if someone could tell me a little bit about the Scrambler and how it compaers to its newer spin off.

I had a scrambler, biggest difference is it is one body, and had a removable bulk head between the cab and bed, I removed the bulk head and installed a full cap over it and had a seat in back, front seats fliped front for access, if I remember correctly there were bolt holes in the bed where seat belts attached to. Jeep might have had a vision for a full top with rear seat back then even. We towed several small campers for eight years with that setup, until kids were getting too big for the aftermarket jeep seat.
Scrambler slowed down on hills, didn't get good gas milage and visibility around camper sort of sucked, I hated merging onto I-95, so for those things it is the same as a Gladiator!.....Jack

I have an 81 Scrambler and should receive my 21 Gladiator Mojave next week. So while I can't make a comparison owning both (yet), I'm pretty confident in saying they are nothing alike. The Scrambler is an amazing classic Jeep - it's rare, super cool and from the days where things were simple sheet metal on axles. The Gladiator is a comfortable, modern truck that harnesses the coolness of the Scrambler, but is just a totally new vehicle. I love my Scrambler and even my wife wants us to keep it; the plan was originally to replace it with the Gladiator because it's 40 years old and just not the vehicle you drive at high speeds for 6 hours to get the Sierras and hangout. The Scrambler is a way cooler vehicle, but it is an old classic car. Mine has no doors, not top, has a back seat and is seriously built up. I drive it daily around the beach town I live in for about half the year, but that's mostly what it is relegated to. I'll have to post an update after having my Gladiator for a little while.

The biggest motivation in getting the Gladiator was to get some of the coolness the Scrambler offers, but more room (kids, dog and gear), more reliability (driving farther and faster) and more comfort.

I had an ‘82 Scrambler. It had a HUGE cool factor, but the bed was narrow, the cab was small, and pretty much everything about the CJ platform was antiquated. I sure wasn’t going g to take the family on vacation in it. I do miss having it though...

Very much a Jeep, no creature comforts but cool factor to the max and fun to drive. Mine did have AC though... I too removed the half cab hard top and bulk head for a full hard top. I sold it and I have always regretted selling it.

is it just me or dose this look like a scrambler or a 2 door wrangle with a bigger trunk B/c with that rear cover on in the 2 to last pic i dont see a drffrince. (sorry for the bad spelling my computer is acting up)

Yup, exactly right a streched CJ-7, he did as I did, removed the bulkhead between the cab and the bed and bought an aftermarket top, was an awesome setup!......Jack

All the differences that 40 years of refinement bring. The similarities end at Body on frame, solid axles and a 7 slot grille. The Gladiator is bigger, more powerful, more comfortable and safer. CJ's are pretty bare bones machines. Best way to make the comparison is to add a CJ-8 to your stable!;)

IT is a 1983 Jeep Scrambler CJ-8 that I removed cab style hard top and the bulkhead(which is bolted in, there isn’t a separate pickup like bed as in a Gladiator) and added a full length hard top.

Here is the CJ-8 Scrambler when I brought it home ( I bought it in Jackson, TN for $5000.00 with AC and drove it back to Nashville with car dolly and my CRX in tow)

I stripped it down, painted it red, added 35x15.50 MT tires on the 15x10 wheels with a professionally done Spring Over lift, even an AGR powering steering pump was added.

I am an idiot for selling but with $7500 in the Scrambler including $5000.00 purchase price I sold it for $18,500. A house down payment 😁
