An I6 has 7 main bearings so very strong. Just great, I get ready to buy a Galdiator and they make it obsolete now.

I am actually hoping the bring the 2.0T to the JT as a base engine with this as the upgrade. I like the 3.6 just fine, it just seems like a dog when I jump into the JT from the JLU.

Where did you get that idea? Just because AMC, and thus Jeep, I6 engines had 7 main bearings doesn't mean that they all did or do!
Maybe most, but some have had only 4, and that includes the Ford 200 and likely others, and I believe BMW and the mopar slant 6 didn't have 7.

2.0T in the Gladiator probably will never happen as a factory option. That question was asked at one of the press meetings in 2018/2019 at a launch event. One of the FCA/Jeep host engineers said the Gladiator would suffer in the tow rating department to not even be competitive and the business case was not there for it in the Gladiator. They test muled it in that configuration towing and cooling suffered.

Not sure why people keep saying it but the 3.0 will be the new engine across the board . If ppl can stuff a Hemi in a gladiator why can't the the 3.0 fit .

Whether or not the engine fits, it's unlikely Jeeps will get the new, twin turbo engine. As Stelantis has said, that new engine replaces the V8 and not the V6. I haven't seen anything anywhere suggesting the 3.0 will be the new engine across all platforms.

Fit isn't the issue - it has to be crash tested and certified and there's a lot more to it. When they were dealing with cooling on the 3.6 the engineers were not allowed to change the radiator support opening or shape or size as it was already checked out in that configuration.

Fit has nothing to do with it. Weight, size, where it fits the engine bay and more............... that's a lot to consider, then when they make any change, it's got to be bested all over again. And as has been mentioned - there's tow ratings, payload and more. All must be considered. A company can't just say "we can make it fit, let's use it".

The V8 is going away, will be phased out, that's been stated in multiple articles over the months. 3.6 isn't going anywhere soon. It's just too successful and there's still more that could be done with it.

Its going to be across the board as in its going to be offered in almost every vehicle as the upgrade (like ford with the 2.3 and 2.7's). I dont expect to see it though until the mid cycle refresh as the 250K a year is going to be shared between Ram, Jeep, and Dodge until they can scale up production.

Unless the gladiator turns out to be a 1 and done run (unlikely given they have exceeded their targets quite a bit and the mid size truck market being on fire) its only a matter of time until it shows up as an optional upgrade (i'm thinking 24/25).

They are also putting it into the wagoneer so not sure why it wouldn't work in a gladiator

This is actually my thinking. I dont care much what current articles say as they’re largely click bait IMO. Time will tell, but hopefully it comes to the JT. Ill be up for an upgrade in 24/25 so ill be looking for it! And hopefully they work out most kinks by the time it (hopefully) does.

My guess is 24 for the JL, 25 for the JT. Hopefully they don’t put the dude responsible for sealing rear windows in charge of anything.

While it sounds cool to have a twin-turbo inline-6 under the hood of a Gladiator, I would be concerned about reliability. I've known a lot of people who drove ecoboost Ford pickups over the years. It seems half of those drivers loved their ecoboost and the other half cursed them for constantly going into "limp mode".

It would really suck to be out on a remote trail somewhere when the twin turbo engine throws a code and goes into limp mode.
