Who's going to Jeep Invasion Aug 21/22/23.
Sponsored
I go every year and yes it's the largest collection of never off-roaded heeps you will ever see lol. I hit windrock the day before and people about fainted at the mud.Being a local, it's an utter shit show. 10% legitimate off-road builds and sponsors, 20% normal folks in normal rigs just trying to enjoy their day, and 70% snake oil salesmen and people who have bolted the most god awful plastic shit you have ever seen to every visible portion of their vehicle.
With that said.......I'll be there at least one day (like I am every year). Purely for the spectacle.
Being a local….You know all the in’s-Out’s of where to go/park etc. If I was local, I’d go every year also.Being a local, it's an utter shit show. 10% legitimate off-road builds and sponsors, 20% normal folks in normal rigs just trying to enjoy their day, and 70% snake oil salesmen and people who have bolted the most god awful plastic shit you have ever seen to every visible portion of their vehicle.

As a local.....I normally avoid Pigeon Forge like the plague. In terms of time-saving by beating traffic on the Parkway, there isn't really any secret sauce. It's gonna be a cluster any time there is an event, which is about every weekend. About the best you can do is grab a map, and plot a course that has as many mountain roads as possible. You might double (or triple) your mileage and time, but at least the drive in will be nice.Being a local….You know all the in’s-Out’s of where to go/park etc. If I was local, I’d go every year also.
We were down there for our vacation a few years ago and it ended up being the weekend of some Classic car event. Fortunately…we were able to park the truck at the Brazillion Steakhouse during the day cuz we had reservations for dinner. It was fun to walk the strip and see all the cars and cruise up/down the strip. We never went to the Convention center. But damn….If you needed to get anywhere…. You were screwed!!! Pack your patience…..
We’ve only been there once, but really enjoyed it. Our cabin required 4WD to get to it….. Technically, you didn’t (in dry weather). But….as we’re driving along… HOLY SHIT!!!! This is STEEP !!!! No wonder they required 4wD!! And I mean…..all you see is sky out the front of your windshield steep!!As the crow flies, my office is about 25 miles from the start of The Spur (end of the Parkway in Pigeon Forge leading up into Gatlinburg), but when I need to make that trip, it's not uncommon for the Jeep to see 100 miles, a lake, two breweries, and half a day of travel. Hell, if the weather is nice enough, you might find me across the mountain in Western NC for half the trip. It's all just delaying the inevitable.
