Mine was a '77, low range with a 360.Wow - I remember seeing that ad way back then.
I had a 78 Quadra Trac Wagoneer and I've got to agree that was a fine 4WD machine. It was probably the best on snow and ice that I've ever driven, and that was on plain old radial whitewall tires. It handled OBX beach sand like a dream too. I never got it stuck enough to try out the knob in the glove box. Some of you may know what I'm talking about.
Oh the amount of gas those things burned is legendary. I don't remember ever calculating the gas mileage on mine, but I would guess it was about 10mpg on the highway.Mine was a '77, low range with a 360.
It'd go anywhere except past a gas station!

The number that sticks in my mind is 8mpg...Oh the amount of gas those things burned is legendary. I don't remember ever calculating the gas mileage on mine, but I would guess it was about 10mpg on the highway.
Yep, it wouldn't surprise me if mine was 8 as well. Wow - cheap gas was great. As much as I liked that beast, there's no way I would do that now.The number that sticks in my mind is 8mpg...
I had a buddy that had a 70's Wagoneer and he added a 30 gal. aux tank just to get some decent range!
