I was driving home yesterday, in the JT, when I get behind a slow moving trailer load of chairs, about to fall off all over the road. At first they are doing about 30 in a 65 zone, then 20 then 15. The chairs were leaning further and further over. I stayed back to be ready in case they come off, to avoid them, but also in case they come off and fly everywhere and other cars hit them and make a bad mess. What a sight that would have been. Traffic got backed up really far, and they finally made to to a store where they could pull off. I decided to pull off as well because they really looked like they would need a hand to get control of the chairs.
It turns out they work for a neighboring school district. (I work at a school district). They knew they had a problem, and they were just trying to make it back. But they got a call from their superintendent telling them that drivers were reporting the issue to them and they they needed to get off the road as soon as possible.
So I told them I believe I can help them if they can get their trailer to the side of the store where there was lots of room.
I only got a few pics, but the 12k Badlands wich was the perfect tool for the job. We pulled them back up right one stack at a time and got them strapped back down and secure. In no time we had the whole load all lined up and how it should be. I followed them down the road a ways till it was time for me to turn of, and they were able to continue with confidence. It was a fun use of the Jeep and winch to help some fellow district employees out.
