So the dealer by me here in the Philly area has an allocation of 15 Gladiators which should be coming in soon. They had a black sport which had everything i wanted. ETA was 5/11. Ordered 3/28. Truck was done being built a couple weeks ago and now it was sent to storage by the manufacture. They're telling me its because they need to wait for their allocation to be done being built. Im a little confused why it would be sent to storage when i have money down on the car. I work in the business and have never heard of this before. Any enlightenment will help!

The hard thing is always figuring out if they're not telling the whole truth, or if perhaps, they weren't told the whole truth. Obviously they want to keep you as a customer, so they want to tell you something that will calm you down.

But yea, we can't comment on that part, since we don't actually know. Let me assume what they are saying is truthful, my opinion would be to save on shipping...?
15 vehicles is a lot, first of all. I haven't quite heard of any other dealer getting that many. The most I think I've seen on here is 4 or 5. 15 is a boat load. Actually it's 2-3 autocarrier loads. So if only 2 or 3 are complete, it doesn't make sense to send a half empty truck...

Ehhh.... Logistics. Sometimes they do not work in our favor... At least you have something to hope for :fingerscrossed:
Some of us don't even have build dates yet, other's don't even have a VIN :lipssealed::headbang:

Probably so, not worth it to ship anything less than a truck full (or train?)

yea that makes sense. isnt really cost effective to send 2 or 3 when you can send a full truckload.

Is it a base Sport or is it a Sport S? I have read that they were not building any base Sport models, at least not for now. If it really is a base Sport model(not a Sport S) then perhaps Jeep in their madness is just not ready to release (and deliver) any Sport models to any dealers, perhaps they just want to pump out and deliver the higher dollar trucks, at least just for now. So which did you order, a Sport or a Sport S?

its just a sport. i didnt order it im assuming the dealer was able to since theyre such a high volume dealer. they probably have some pull with Jeep.

Well then this is a potential good sign for those that have ordered base Sport models. Shows that Jeep has started to build them, at least one. Although I speculate that they did several truck loads of them in a production run. And for whatever reason the logistics are not quite right for them to start shipping them out or they just want to deliver the higher dollar ones for now. Who knows how their brains work??!!

There isn’t that kind of pull, regardless of volume. Who told you that the Jeep is in storage, awaiting shipment? Did you receive the build sheet and VON or VIN? So far only Spec-builds are being delivered, and those are loaded Rubicons and Overlands, and the dealers MIGHT be able to TRY to pull strings in order to get a pair of Rubicons instead of a pair of Overlands, but Sports weren’t in the mix. Even when the order banks opened a week or 2 back, the base Sport was not an option on the dealer portal.

Jeep does NOT require a deposit to be put on an ordered Jeep...that is simply something the dealer is allowed to ask for if they are unsure that a customer will complete the transaction. Jeep itself gets upset if dealers abuse the system by ordering too many vehicles as “customer sold orders” simply as a way to jump the Line and stock their lots with desirable vehicles, but it’s up to the dealer to close the sale on legitimate orders.

Now, I know that I’m just some schmuck on the interweb. I could be a troll sowing discord. I could be a salesman at another dealer in your area hoping you’ll bring your money to line my pockets. So, take this with a grain of salt or 2, but from what I see, were my opinion being solicited, I’d have to say that it sounds like your dealership is just full of $4/+. The dates don’t make a lot of sense.

That said...even when legitimate customer sold orders are processed and built, there are times when random Jeeps get stuck in “Inspection Hell” where they are pulled before delivery and gone over with a fine-tooth comb to assure they were built to standards...which sometimes delays delivery by several weeks.

In the long run, you’ll be able to buy your Gladiator. Until then, feel free to keep us updated on the stories your dealer uses to placate you and keep you on the line.

i have the build sheet, the VIN and VON. I only know that large volume dealers sometimes have pull with the manufacture because i used to work for FCA under Maserati. We did a lot of business so we were able to have our pick of the litter when it came to getting new cars. I work for Porsche now and its a similar situation with them.

Many reasons, sometimes vehicles are randomly picked out of line for extended Quality Assurance, the vehicle may be waiting for rework or a part not in stock, , sometime a reflash of software, or new software....you can find out the status letters (look on the net for all the designations from C to KZ......)

If it was a dealer order those get less priority than customer orders..

Lots of reasons....not all obvious.

If it was ordered in March, it wasn't a dealer order but a pre-spec ordered for the dealer. Sounds to me like the dealers have very little, if no control over what happens with the new vehicles.
