Like I said though, I don't know names, it's entirely possible the platform I've seen, quoted, and worked on, is destined for something else.

The product I'm thinking of, J4P, is large volume, which is why it's a big deal to us.

Entirely possible they poop out some Wrangler with a bulkhead and half cab for a premium price as well as a halo vehicle.

I will say, a 2 door anything, is not a volume product in todays market. So, one can infer, if a Wrangler based, 2 door "Scrambler", with or without a V8 were to appear, it would be an SRT-esque, TRX class high end vehicle.

Yes, and in spite of being as simple as ordering one, and sticking it on... No one really did, and this is the second one I've ever seen on the road.

I actually would if I didn’t need the rear seats. I was a few months too late for the Brute kit on my LJ as AEV had stopped producing them by the time I got mine. I may look into it again for the JT but can also see the value of internal storage for camping and off road excursions. It’s an option for sure.

You're oversimplifying things there, making it sound like the process was the equivalent of slapping on some angry grille in a spare hour or two.

To actually be honest about it, one had to purchase the four door JK, buy the kit (which was not at all cheap, see here), then perform a decent amount of body work involving cutting, welding, bonding, and paint. The overall cost if you had a body shop perform the work ended up being roughly 50% the cost of buying a new JKL. It's not much wonder it wasn't terribly popular amongst the general public when you take an accurate look at the total real cost for the end product versus other options. If the factory would have offered that configuration for a price similar to the standard JKL, they would have been more popular than they ended up.

yes, they'd buy a 2 door no one wants, that costs more to make, because there are less units sold per year, but only if it costs the same or less as the mass production vehicles.

Make it a 2 door, manual trans, turbo diesel at on;ly 20k and I'M IN....

Except, that literally exists, I've had one for 6 years, and all they've done is add automatic transmissions, Hard cabs, and AC, driving the price from the 15.8 I paid, to 27k lol. And normal people would still take a JLU or JT 100:1 over it.

Because it's loud, slow, rides like a brick, smells, cold, inconvenient AF... But dreamers... As long as they think it doesn't exist, will claim they'd buy it.

So Amigos this is how i picture the Scrambler from all the discussions and descriptions of course it will come with a more powerful motor, different grill, front fenders and a sticker package.

Exactly. Just like the cyber truck, PT Cruiser, etc . The first ones will go for a lot of money to early adopters and the rest will rot on dealer lots. But they’ll still over produce them and give huge incentives to move them, maybe even lower the MSRP, and they won’t even have good resale value.

So if they bring something out that’s actually half way decent we just sit on our hands until we see the desperation in Jeeps eyes to offload them then pounce. Got it. Not like I’d sell it off after anyway so resale value isn’t a concern for me.

The Amigo was awesome. I always wanted one. That’s not the insult you act like it is.

It looks similar in body style to an Amigo to me no acting or wording to indicate it is an insult just an observation. I just thought of the old Amigo when i saw it and heard the description. Since evolution is what it is i would hope it comes with advancements like an increase in performance, articulation, creature comforts, Technology, size and of course an updated Scrambler style sticker package.

And one thing all the couch CEO's seem to over look, is volume.

You come to my company and ask us to make 5,000 of a thing a year, we'll politely show you the door. And Stellantis is 62% of our business.

If it's not either 50k a year, or tied to a group of parts running that volume, most suppliers won't touch it. Which leaves you paying higher prices to lower tier suppliers.

Truly niche vehicles requiring unique tooling, are hard, and expensive.

A Hemi is 5k in a Ram, because they poop out 200k a year.
