Math never favors diesel out the gate. One buys a diesel for the need of the low end torque.$6k... wheew. That's enough to purchase 87 octane gasoline for 50,650 miles worth of driving at current prices. Somebody is going to have to REALLY want that engine to make it worthwhile. And that's not even considering the added maintenance costs, added diesel fuel costs, etc.
