It will probably depend on the spec of yours, and the spec of the ones swapped in. There are dozens of combinations of factory spring rates which depend on which model and options they are built with.

I remember reading somewhere the same front spring in a JT is 1" lower than if it were installed in a JL which is to be expected with the longer wheelbase.

Stupid? No, but the result would be unknown until you try it. Just because it has a longer free length doesn’t mean the spring rate is higher or even equal. There are some charts of part numbers and applications (and some spring rates) floating around in this and the JL forum. With the proper research and selection, it might work out well.
