Update from me: I outta be able to join for the first 2-3 days, doubtful I'll be able to make the entire trip as I've got other priorities calling since just moving to CO. I'll know 100% on monday the 25th, but I'm pretty sure it should work out. I'll be in my 2DR JK, ~2.5" lift, 35s, sliders, on board air, winch, and will use my ground tent.

Couple questions though.
-I have my HAM license and a CB in the jeep but no GMRS radio. Would anyone be willing to lend me a handheld for the time I'm out there for this trip?

-In addition to my good attitude should I bring a bottle of bourbon or scotch to share with the group?

Hope you can make it! The 26th will be a movement to the campsite and the wheeling will begin on the 27th. I will be out there on the 25th.

If you are staying in Salida you are better off just going straight to the campsite on Tuesday. People that will be meeting in Buena Vista will be traveling through Salide to get to the campsite near Telluride. Another option is to get in touch with @DocMike and just coordinate when they will be passing through Salida and just join the convoy at that time.
Now that sounds like a plan ,not familiar with getting around the mountains .
Indiana you can look 100 miles down the road.

Definitely easier to get bearings in Colorado :CWL: a lot of terrain features you can refer to. I am going to be passing through Salida around 11 am on Monday and probably will make a pit stop there to let the pup out and catch a break if you would like to meet up.

I should be there if traffic flows good on the interstates .Going to try the 1000 miles in 24 hours just like going to STURGIS but on four wheels.

I do miss the Warren Dunes.....and of course Bass Lake. As a kid growing up in Chicago, they were a welcome break from the city.

I walk the stairs every sunday morning. When I was a kid every summer I would stay at my aunt and uncle in LAPORTE ,you could see the lake out the back window.
My uncle would always take me fishing .May they rest in peace ,a die hard cubs fan.

Yuengling! Kidding - I'm the square kid who doesn't drink anymore. Have a safe drive across to the Colorado and don't stay one second longer than you need to in Rocky Ford.

No, just a really small town. Middle of nowhere.

Colorado is weird. High desert. Most of our water goes west naturally to the Pacific, yet the bulk of the population is on the Eastern Plains. Some settlers heading to California for gold most likely looked at the Rockies and said...nah...I'm good.

Thank you let me guess DETROIT of Colorado.

Nothing wrong with that ,I was expecting murder capital .I worked in Detroit for a few years in the 90s.Hamtramic worst part of Detroit ,hell night they would burn down the abandoned houses .You never stopped at stop signs after dark. Very interesting for a guy coming from the farm in INDIANA.

Sections of Pueblo can get interesting. Ex steel town. Suffering from the decline of that industry.
Not like East St. Louis when I was a kid....we'd come down from Chicago and my dad would put his side arm from the USMC on the dash.

Lots of homeless out here in the bigger cities. I have had a few run ins with them when I have a naked Jeep. We have legal weed and good weather.
