Just came across this thread & I’d like in, at least for day one. Planned my first trip to Colorado & was going to do Imogene on the 26th. I’m not much of an off roader yet, but I’d love to go with a group, much safer.

Sadly, no CO trip for me this summer. Going to have my back cut open, so no bumpy trails for a bit.

Ok, I m about to head out to Tennessee for a week at the lake.
July 5th. I'd like to have a plotting and planning meeting for those that are local and wish to participate in this trip. Probably at FH Brew on Powers. If some of you are far and want to FaceTime in to the meeting I can bring my lap top.

General consensus is arrive July 26th. CAMP.

July 27: Ophir to Imogene for a warm up. Then Black Bear and maybe Yankee Boy. This will be a busy day of wheeling. CAMP

July 28th: Head up Engineer. Poughkeepsie? CAMP just past Lake City.

July 29th Finish Alpine Loop via Cinnamon Pass, pack up.

REQUIRED:

GMRS, plus camping gear/or your hotel, chill attitude.
Zero road rage on the mountain. We will probably encounter one dickhead. I did last time. But we rep the community with a pro attitude. Hold your liquor or whatever when camping.... we are grown ass adults.

OPTIONAL:

If you have recovery gear, bring it. Tools, same. I'll bring mine. I'm also running an ARB Twin. I plan on sharing my compressor and my air down gear. You will probably air down the whole trip. Lots of Jeeps cruising Ouray at 18PSI.

This is going to be a fun trip and a SAFE trip. Spotters when and where you need them. If you can spot or know these trails, speak up. Everybody goes, everybody comes home safe. SET YOUR E BRAKE ON THE TRAIL EVERY TIME YOU EXIT THE VEHICLE. Don't care your skill level. We will have some veterans with us for sure and I'm thankful to learn more as well as share what I have learned.

If you choose a hotel or cabin, all good. We will agree on time and rally points which will most likely be trailheads. Your job to show up and communicate via GMRS.

The 4 weeks put it on July 25th :D hope there is no delays lol just hopeful wishing.

Generally they tend to over estimate.....because if you say 4 weeks and it takes 3.5. AWESOME.

But yelling happens when you say 3 and it takes 5.

Hello gents ,just read the complete thread .I wanted to head to CO. this year and do some exploring. It sounds like a well planned out adventure you have lined up. A lot of experienced four wheelers at high altitudes .I have been wheeling since the 80s but IND. four wheeling is different then CO. wheeling. I have all the gear ,would love to join you all.
I am going to knock it around in my head .I haven't looked at a map yet .I could drop down off of I80 or go up from I70. Which would be better for the meet up ?
Tonight I will break out the maps.

I think the best place to link up with Colorado Springs Crew and rigs coming down from denver is Buena Vista, CO. Its a nice little spot and easy access to the highway to head southwest. Most people will take off on the 26th. I am going to head out on the 25th I think with one other and scope out the area for the campsite so when you guys get there we will have a place to camp and less stress on finding a spot after a long drive.

We would love to have you join us on this little getaway adventure!

Why does life have to get in the way of doing Jeep stuff! I had planned on being in Silverton the July 26-30 and now I can't Would have loved to connect and run the trails with a group of Jeeps.

I love it ,in the 80s we had a yearly hog roast with bands just a mile from PURDUE campus nice scenery .We started doing shirts on the back it said I survived the hog roast.
