We've just begun building out our '21 Gladiator for offroading. This was the first weekend we've overnighted and enjoyed Johnson Valley, California (near Joshua Tree). Here's what we build out and commentary:

  • Leitner ALS Forged rack in the back with a moving rear crossbar so that we can still load dirt bikes. Bomb proof.
  • Leitner gearpods on the left (LX holding four leather bags) and right (single holding one bag)
  • KC C3 lights on the four corners of the bed - wired to two of the aux switches (left and right)
  • iKamper Skycamp 2.0 - Fantastic. This things is overbuilt and very impressive. Aside from being rooftop, the best tent we've seen.
  • iKamper Annex - Enormous. Not an easy thing to set up on a hot afternoon for the first time but very nice. It needs a way to seal the part just under the tent.
  • Ghostawn 360 degree shade - wasn't good in the wind...couldn't use it and concerned
  • ARB twin compressor - Mounted in left front wheel well. Haven't tried it yet but we have an air chuck under the hood (above it) and in the back of the bed.
  • 12V outlets in the rear of the bed - Didn't try yet but great spot.
  • Poison Spyder medium width front bumper with bull bar. We've mounted Rigid lights in the cutouts (on the fog lamp switch) facing forward and two more (on the aux switch) facing at a 45 degree angle on tap. Has a Warn winch inside as well and the cable/hook comes through the bumper under the license plate, which swings up.
  • JCR rear bumper with two swingaway arms. Swingaways have jerry cans on the left and a generic mount/ladder on the left.
  • Bought a Goose Gear box for fridge and stove but it took up too much of the bed.
Waiting on the 2" lift from AEV (backordered) and probably switching to BF Goodrich 35's.

What else do I need?

Also carry a Goal Zero Yeti 3000 generator that can make a latte in the morning :).

Also worth mentioning that I have noticeable sag in the back when loaded...waiting for lift to see what I ultimately need. Comments?

Do you have a pic with the Ikamper 2.0 on top? Considering one also.

You probably overloaded your payload. Get some airbags, or sumo springs.

I have bags on my Mojave for towing our boat. It does not help as much with sag, but stiffens things up so there is not as much bounce going down the road.
the bags push out on the springs, not up.

Yes, thought about airbags but Rhino Adventure Gear in San Diego said that airbags are problematic on an offroad vehicle. They recommended springs.

Thanks! Looks like the full size fits up there pretty well.
YUP, but it overhands the cab a bit, which means there has to be clearance for the cab and bed to articulate separately. Required an adapter on the Leitner ACS Forged rack to life it another 4".

I've heard where the bags can get stuck in-between the coils.

I push my jeep pretty hard off-road in the foothills around my house. Fast on the fire roads + rocks/flexing at the higher elevation. No problems yet. I have the twin compressor with wireless remote. 5 lbs in the lowest setting it will allow. I think that may keep them from binding.
