I have found a few Overland Models on dealer lots. But most have extras I do not need and not all the extras I want. Is it still possible to order to a2020 or should I wait for the 2021 model?

I tried to order a 2020 two weeks ago, but no dice. You can configure one online, but the dealer ordering system locked it out. I ended up buying my 2020 from dealer inventory.

Skip the overland model of course and aim for sport max tow or mojave/rubicon.

Not sure it’s the best approach, but I downloaded autotrader and searched the whole US. I sorted based on price and picked through everything until I found what I wanted. Max Tow was important to me, and it’s hard to tell from descriptions if it’s ncluded so I got good at pulling stickers by VIN to see exactly what options they had.

Although I did not order an Overland myself and opted for the Mojave, I am curious why you would say to avoid the Overland. When I was pricing them out I thought the overland was a good middle ground for someone who wanted available leather, proximity key, LED headlights, Front Camera, the 7" radio with USB ports and power standard without having to pay the premium for the lockers and rock crawly stuff. All of which were not available options on a sport or sport S. I think its safe to assume that 90% of gladiator owners would not end up using the Rubicon or Mojave goodies. I would think the overland is the best option for most people as you get the tech and other comforts one would expect from a $50k+ vehicle yet still have more off-road capability and more removable roof than every other mid sized truck on the road.

Thanks to everyone who answered my question! I guess high jacking a topic is still rampant! LOL :)
If you are going to order it can only be 2021 model year, they stopped taking 2020 factory orders sometime around late July/early August .

There's allot of "what if's" to your question. Are you in a hurry or can you wait? Are you wanting a JT loaded with only what you want? If so, order it. If you don't really care if it has more than or less than you want, find one on a dealer lot. Good luck with your search.

Oftentimes when vehicle shopping, you gotta pay for some of what you really don't need to get what you really want. This started when manufacturers began offering "packages" in the 1960's.

No hijacking really going on, what are you going to do with your gladiator, I started out with the Overland model as it had a lot of options I wanted, but upon looking into towing I realized my options at time were Sport max Tow or Rubicon, and the Max Tow couldn’t get some options, so it was a Rubicon although I don’t go hard core off road and didn’t want front sway sway disconnect or front locker. Then along came the Mojave much better suited to my mission , Bingo! I would much rather have a limited slip mindless rear then an electric locker that you have to reach down for a switch, but oh well! Figure out what you want to do and towing is a big deal and does dictate some choices....Jack

Everyone, thanks for all the opinions and advice! I ended up going with a used one with 14,000 miles on it. Made a list of what I must have wanted to have and could do without. Checked if the must haves could be added after market and went from there. Found some add ons I didn't even know existed that changed to must haves :) Ended up with an Overland that had an MSRP of $55,675 for $42,700.
