Did it still feel that way after a few months? I self installed, and seats felt the same after a bit. Just curious on the different Katkin lines.

I have Katzkin on my JTRD (for 30,000 miles) and it’s sooo much softer/nicer to sit in than any of my other Wranglers. That said — the seat frame is what it is so it’s not going to solve those issues. But it was well worth it. Also— katzkin has held up very well.

The leather trimmed seat option on Gladiators is more vinyl than leather. I still haven't found a definitive conclusion to what all is leather on the seats. The Katzkins are nicer.

When I was searching for the OEM leather I discovered there are two levels of factory leather. One is vinyl everywhere but the seating sections. The deluxe version is mostly leather everywhere but still some vinyl. The deluxe version also has perforated seating areas and is a more premium leather.

I purchased the deluxe version that has the Jeep Performance Parts badge instead of the Jeep headlight/grille logo. The kit cost me $794.

Also, it is only the Rubicon and Mojave that require different kits. The Mojave has the best seats and the Rubicon has a different seat back. The kit I bought specifically states that it is for Altitude, Overland, Sport, Sport S, Willy's

I would agree that most oem leather is more vinyl than leather. When I was researching my options I noticed a company called leather seats.com that made a kit for the Jeep that has a minority vinyl, half vinyl/half leather option, and a full leather option. The basic katzkin kit is their premium leather, which is the majority leather on the seats. I can’t see where there is any vinyl. When they first was installed I was confused because the katzkin leather has more grain and isn’t as “smooth” as most oem leather seats I’ve seen. Even my wife’s Lexus has premium leather with perforation for the ventilation and her leather is smoother than mine. But I will say after 3 days the seats are getting tighter and the wrinkles are going away. I have no doubt that the leather will last long past the 3 year warranty period katzkin offers.
I would have gone with the kit that mopar sells directly that is katzkin leather- but the only color option I saw was black. When you custom ordered the same kit through katzkin- you are able to choose any color they offer. I wanted to lighten the interior so I was choosing between the cement that matched the Mojave style or a tan that would match what is offered in the sport trim. I just thought that with the earl exterior cement would look better. I certainly makes the Jeep interior lighter and more pleasant.

Just a reminder to everyone, the upper level trims (overland, Rubicon, Mojave, high altitude) all get more premium seat foam than the sport and sport s trims, so if you install leather on sport seats you don't get all the plushness of the higher trims. There may be some slight padding in the new leather seat covers, but probably not enough to notice.

I’m not happy with the comfort of my 2020 Overland leather seats. I’d love to have new foam on the seat portion of the seats…

I did the same thing December 2021. Local dealer had 1 Gladiator Mojave in stock. Had every option that I wanted except leather seats!! The dealer told me about the Katzkin and it was a couple hundred less then the factory option!!! I decided to live on the wild side and go two color. The exterior and interior trims are orange-so I went great and orange. OP yours looks great! Classy!

Just got them installed Monday. First impression is that the seats feel fuller, not stiff but more padded. They have softened up a bit in a couple of days, and the leather is starting to tighten. Love that if you get the jeep approved logo stitched then the seats come with a Mopar katzkin label. The match is so close that I really think katzkin makes the factory leather that comes in the gladiators.

How did you have them installed and was or is it impossible to do yourself? If I pay 1700.00 for leather I don't want to have to pay hundreds more for install ..cheap you say..nope just poor .

I had them installed. When you order through katzkin they ship directly to an authorized installer you choose from their recommended installers in your area. That is the only way they will honor the 3 year warranty. Katzkin pays the installer a flat $600 fee.

I’ve read where people did it themselves and said that their hands have never hurt more and also said they would have paid to have them installed. For $600 Id rather have a pro do it and be able to get any warranty work done by them.

I'm very happy with my Katzkins. Definitely more padding than the factory saddle leather on my Wife's 4xe Sahara
