Ordered the new model of this URTC from voodoo. Looks great and functions as stated with a MX4 Tri-Fold Tonneau Cover - can fully flip up the tonneau cover and clear the rack. However, one of the problems I've read about is still present (powdercoat peeling off after a month of minimal use, without mounting or hauling any loads, eventually forming tons of rust all over the rack etc.) Additionally, the rack is definitely not rated as-is for any dynamic use, let alone 300 lbs or a RTT. All the screws and connections that hold this rack together came loose within two months of mere road driving and required continual tightening. When taken lightly offroad, the rack damn near came apart. I think this design is close to being completed, but I would definitely wait until it is back up with the next version and peer reviews confirm these issues are addressed. The URTC is no longer available on the website, which might be a sign that I got an experimental run of this, so perhaps the next version is being re-designed. If that is the case, you will definitely want to wait until this one is straightened out before you shell out ~$1500. For reference, the URTC rack with two top bars and two side bars (4 total) was used in my system. Overall, pretty disappointed in this not-so-cheap rack system, especially given the recent reviews of Voodoo's other racks. I had read mixed reviews about their customer service, but the reviews stating their disappointment are starting to hold more water as the response I was given from Voodoo was "powdercoating is not armor and go buy some loctite and semi-gloss paint. You should tighten the bolts".

DO NOT BUY. I've had voodoo racks for years, lastly on my Tacoma and they were great. I got the 14" rack with the tonneau brackets. After a weekend in the mojave, the rack has completely damaged the bed of my truck. The only weight on the rack is my roof tent, which again, i've had for years. Where the bracket meets the truck, there is too much vertical play, and the base of the bracket is not wide enough to displace the weight (it's quite a bit thinner than the tacoma bracket). This results in a bouncy desert road slowly hammering down on the truck bed.

When I brought this to the attention of the good people at Voodoo, I got a response from a man called "Chad". This guy was a complete A-Hole. No sympathy, no offer for even a refund. This was about the worst customer service I've ever received from a company, and that is not hyperbole.

Yeah that sounds about right. KBV is a 4-letter word over on TacomaWorld and their customer service makes Chinese LED bar manufacturers look like rockstars. Horrible quality control and repeated (as in "we have a new partner" about 3x now) powder coat issues have pretty much tarnished them for everyone. Even with their new racks using extruded aluminum, the brackets still rust to shit.

This is insane!
Thanks for the warning. I will not be buying a rack from them.

That’s awful! Wow. Thanks for the cautionary tale - I came very close to purchasing (a 14” max modular bed rack with tonneau brackets) about a week before your post. So glad I waited! Sorry that happened and hope Chad provided some resolution.
