That would be a nice add to the hood struts. I may have an old thermostat lying around here somewhere...
I might have a NOS AMC Javelin trunk light kit or Eagle hood light kit (option from the factory) - those both have mercury (not referring to Freddie) switches in them.

Ya know, I think I will dig through stuff and see if I do have an extra Eagle hood light kit. You can put LED bulbs in them.......

Ignore the blue arrow, it's supposed to be pointing to the emissions decal - rating the vehicle as a light truck (yes, honestly)

You should definitely put that classic amc kit under the hood of your JT.

I had visions of grandeur. A rocker switch was purchased, wire loom, hood pressure switches... in the end, I basically wired it up as it was intended. really happy with the end results and thanks to all who gave their advice. The only change I made was using my own loom instead of that plastic one they provided.

Where did you install the pressure switch?

I didn't. that's the sad part. but the intent is to go back in when I have more time and use the pin as a kill switch. on initial inspection, there look to be a few places up front that would work well. but I also noticed that there are already two pressure switches on the right of the engine bay, maybe we can use that as well.

I was wondering the same thing. It seems like one of the existing ones could be used for this as well. They already provide hood open warnings and prevent remote start if the hood is open, among other things.

What? No mercury switch??
Also an option if you have the hood struts - Stabilus Ez-Switch gas strut activated switches - I don’t have a link as the original eBay site is sold out, but google may provide other sources.
