Hey guys. Been asking a lot of questions lately. This place is a great resource for a newbie. I am looking into getting the 1.5” teraflex level kit for my sport s and I have a friend with a lift that would make it easy to install myself.

Couple of questions:
Would doing so put me in jeopardy of voiding an extended bumper to bumper warranty? Also, does the truck need to be “balanced” or “aligned” after installing this? Lastly, If I bought the parts and took it to a shop at the same time I was buying tires, would they put it on for me and just charge labor or would I have to buy the parts from them as well?

A lot of shops by me have told me they won’t do any work if I don’t buy the tires/parts from them as well. Kind of stinks because they seem to overcharge for parts. I guess they don’t want the liability of having to warranty/stand by a part that someone could have tampered with.

Thanks for your input!

Anything you add will not void the warranty UNLESS what you added caused the failure.

With that said, you're just doing a spacer leveling kit. Not to be confused with an actual lift.

If you don't disassemble any of the steering components you really have no need for an alignment. Your front axle will be shifted slightly out of center side to side, not a huge problem, might change the feel of it a bit. Your front axle will also be shifted a bit rearward of center, again not a big deal.

Thanks for the response! I assume that when buying tires/having them installed at a shop it comes with alignment anyways. Might as well just put the level on myself first.

They might give you a discount if you do it all together but I've never heard of anyone doing an alignment for free

LOL, first JEEP, right?

You won't get a free alignment with mount and balance of tires. They'll offer you one though, just not free.

Also, a regular tire shop normally won't do a complete alignment on a JEEP. They'll do their normal alignment, give you a readout sheet with your numbers and factory parameters.
The areas they don't touch (because they usually don't know how) are up to you to get corrected if needed. If you ever put a true lift on, you'll need to find a 4x4 shop in your area to make all the needed adjustments.
