First, I want to say that the leather work looks great.

Second, holy shit when did your jeep key need it's own EDC holster? Where's the official branded Sam Browne to carry the fob?

That said, they do look very well made to give years of service.
Well it does help to balance me out a little, the EDC on the right hip and the FOB on the left

you don’t find out about the fob until you’ve already forked over the cash for the jeep...it’s like the price tag is only half a kick in the nuts, they get the full swing when they hand you that key fob lol

takes your breath away...just not how you wanted haha

If you don't know about the FOB before buying, that's your own fault. I test drove the truck I bought, and was well aware of the FOB size before signing.

Unless, like on my test drive, the salesman just threw the FOB in the cup holder when we got in.

But I actually rented a JL when I was getting serious about the JT. Like with most rentals (at least Enterprise and National,) they gave me two of the giant Jeep FOBs cablelocked together. Really uncomfortable carrying that kluge around all weekend. I guess it made me appreciate only having to carry one when I got mine.

Yup, was in the cup holder, didn’t really notice, didn’t handle it on test drives.

Wouldn’t have stopped me, I would have bent over regardless with a keen mind for watching for the solutions knowing it would be an annoyance for many.

As a JLUR owner and sponsor of these forums, I also saw a need of other carry solutions. I offer handcrafted leather JL / JT key FOB holsters in a variety of options; belt clip, flat carabiner clip, clipless both with and without a button window (for those with proximity entry it is not really needed) in a variety of leather and thread colors. I have hundreds of satisfied customers that often receive compliments. They are available on my website www.gibsonleatherworks.com If you have any questions feel free to message me or you can email me at [email protected]

Even though I am one who doesn't understand all the whining about the fob, nevertheless I bought one of the above, and I like it a lot. Not because I don't like the fob in my pocket, but for the convenience of pushing the unlock button without having to dig into my pocket. The fob is on my belt where the buttons are easily accessible. Plus once I clip it on the belt in the morning, I never worry if it is in my pocket when I lock up the truck.

Oh, and yes, it is beautifully hand-crafted.

So you didn't test drive it, and they didn't put the keys on the desk as part of the sales process? I've bought a few new cars, keys always set on the desk. I thought it was a sales ploy to keep you excited to buy.

I just hang mine from a belt loop or on my bag if I'm going to the pool in swim shorts. Never in the way, easy to reach. I did this with my JK keys too, after one of those cut a hole in my pocket.

not a biker, and don't generally run a purse but almost always have a pocket, lots of shorts without belt loops, and going for a run...pocket will be best place anyway as the flopping around is just too much, better off holding the damn thing in my hands while doing stairs or jogging, like seriously Jeep, they put zero thought into personal carry convenience for active people on the go, for something unlocks and locks doors and gives a micro signal to allow ignition...it should be 1/5th the size and weight it is, what they don't think a guy or girl may want to throw on fitness wear and hit a trail? small pockets, fitted clothes? really Jeep? what the absolute fack were you thinking?

Engineers arent real people, and therefore dont get to the same conclusions

I envision a room full of engineers sitting arund a table, all thinking this was a great idea

They were probably thinking that most of us would prefer the enhanced range of a larger antenna (way farther than the JK's range), waterproofing, and great buttons that are easy to feel, instead of a small remote. Just my guess.

In a few months, cars will start shipping with an NFC reader in them that allows you to use a phone to unlock and drive, zero need for a key. Doesn't help us now, but I certainly hope there's some kind of retrofit.

while that sounds more appealing at first lets think that through a little bit from a lot of peoples perspectives, like could there would there be people doing things not wanting to take a phone with?

if you don't want to take your phone on the trail? a girl wearing her lulu wear going for a hike or running stairs, everything stays in the truck, or at home, just the keys that fit in that tiny waist band fitted pocket? really Jeep, don't make it worse by forcing people to own a smart phone and carry it always, make it optional and programmable but offer the much smaller fob/key than the one you gave us...fix this stupid fob follie, needs to be 1/5th the size AND weight, we carry enough stuff, smaller/lighter, we have the technology, don't go backwards again

It's another option, nothing is being forced. And no, I don't go anywhere without the phone, don't care.

phones have never worked great for me in the mountains hunting, better off at home, out of service, cold the battery dies super fast, forget to turn onto airplane mode and roams while out of service is dead battery fast, anyway, there are people who don't take their phones everywhere, so it's a consideration, and why i said make it an option, but never make it the only solution, always have a key or fob and with jeeps you want both, so you can lock the internal compartments with the key but a compact fob also, just not a giant brick, and don't force the world to have only a phone, not everyone is all phone all the time
