just tolerating my ajt with mods for now, still a gross looking package in my work pants but not much for better solutions yet

i bet if launched, one could win a lawsuit against rfid push button start and ignition/stop not being a physical to driver location item and change the auto industry on safety and liability issues alone, surprised it hasn't happened yet, i could see a day where all this proximity bullshat goes away and driver has full care and control over vehicle again...including starting AND stopping it, rfid push button tech removes that, dangerous

I do agree that the AJT is even uglier and chunkier feeling than stock. But it saved you what, 1mm?

No, it doesn't, and that's what makes your rants so funny because you have no clue how the JK "key" works. Hint: It's identical to how RFID works. The "key" was just a human foible, a skeuomorph to make people feel better. It still could only request a start/stop from the computer, just like RFID.

no sir, the operator of vehicle had to stick that little rfid into dash and give things a turn to engage acc/on/start, also had to turn the thing to off and to be able to remove it...all driver controlled and necessary, it remained a 'key' a physical permission done differently than steel...but common sense went into keeping it driver only and you didn't go anywhere with vehicle that the key didn't go with it, you didn't turn it off without it

i know this level of common sense goes over your head just as much as you think the tech here goes over mine lol

the ajt without back panel is thinner and narrower and lighter, three measures of improvement in the right direction over the fob but you'd have to handle them together to get the full effect, it's quite a bit more noticeable than you think, you're discounting the weight and minimizing the dimensional differences to suit your argument, that's fine, i still agree it's not far enough reduced in those three dimensional categories, and a fourth, length should be less by a fair bit also

the start stop permission of a vehicle should require physical attachment in the drivers cockpit area, period, that's what common sense is, full care and control over 5000 lbs of high speed death potential, thin air connections should not be legal, but we lazy af and will put liability and safety in our pockets for a button ;)

Yeah, so being forced to use a "key" in a slot is so much better than the same key that doesn't go in a slot. You seriously are one of the best trolls I've seen, and I've been online since the 80s. That is impressive, honestly.

The BMW has a dash slot for the fob. I used to use it, then realize how idiotic that was.
Wife's Infiniti has a fob slot, but that's just to use for RFID detection if the fob battery is dead. IDK if it only needs to be in there for start-up or if it needs to stay in there to keep it running. I suspect the former.

What do you do if you're parked somewhere and when you return to your jeep, someone is sitting in the driver's seat. If you get too close, they will be able to start it and drive away.

LOL.

But I guess the answer would be "draw and start shooting."

Again, "too close" means INSIDE the vehicle on the driver's side, so not an actual possibility.

But then you'll have holes in your door and maybe the seat, too.

Yet again, the fault of the key fob!

At times I've thought about doing that to the fob!
